where to go now: Rooftop Film Club

This September, gather your friends and make the most of your last chance to visit Rooftop Film Club, the king of outdoor cinema. Whether you’re looking for new releases or want a touch of nostalgia, Rooftop Film Club has all you could ask for from an evening out. Be transported back to the noughties with screenings of 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde and Love and Basketball, have your funny-bones tickled with comedies including the brand new People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan or get your adrenaline pumping with action-packed classics such as Top Gun.

New Releases

Check out some of the hottest new releases at Bussey Building with screenings of the season’s most anticipated movies. For horror and thriller fans, sink your teeth into John Peele’s new film Candyman, which isn’t quite as sweet as its title (September 22nd and 25th). For something a little more light-hearted, watch the new comedy Free Guy starring the hilarious Ryan Reynolds (September 11th and 16th), or join Kurupt FM travelling overseas in their brand new film People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan (September 15th). For the adventure of a lifetime, join Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in Jungle Cruise on September 1st, 3rd and 10th.

Old School Movie Classics

At Roof East, it’s all about serving some old school classic film favourites this September. Sucker for a romance? Come down for screenings of The Notebook on 4th September or True Romance on the 15th. If it’s 2001 nostalgia you’re after, take a trip down to Roof East for Bridget Jones’ Diary on 16th September and sing your heart out to Moulin Rouge on 19th September.

Absolutely Fabulous Bottomless Brunch

Rooftop’s first ever Bottomless event! Make like Eddy and Patsy and this 24th September and have a fabulous time at Rooftop Film Club’s upcoming screening of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie at Bussey Building. Make it a night to (hardly) remember with The Patsy Package, which includes not only your film ticket and bottomless popcorn, but bottomless prosecco too. What more could you ask for, darling? Not only that, but dressing up in your best Patsy or Eddy outfit is highly encouraged – wow the team and you could be in with the chance of winning some absolutely gorgeous prizes.

People’s Choice Screening

This month, Rooftop Film Club has its very first People’s Choice screening, and it’s all about Hugh Grant. Watch the endearing man himself in action in timeless 90s rom com Notting Hill at Roof East on 9th September, coinciding with the British heartthrobs birthday.

Trailblazing Films

Always up for celebrating highlights of cinema history, Rooftop Film Club presents a series of trailblazing films – from Jaws, the first summer blockbuster of its kind to Jurassic Park, which introduced CGI technology way ahead of its time. Visitors can also catch The Dark Knight – the first truly successful adult comic book movie – and Do The Right Thing – Spike Lee’s classic which paved the way for black filmmakers in generations to come to make socially conscious & relevant films.

When it comes to food, Share a Slice pizza will be dishing out their authentic stone-baked delights at Bussey, while visitors to Roof East will be spoilt for choice between Cheeky Burger, East Side Pizza and Kolkati. All hot food, classic cinema snacks and a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available to order via the app and delivered to guests’ deckchairs.

This summer, visitors to the rooftop will be able to support London Youth Charity and give a donation at checkout and with any online purchases. Generous customers this season have already donated over £3,000 to the cause.

Capital FM will also be back this year as Rooftop Film Club’s exclusive radio partner bringing Rooftoppers Capital Wednesdays where they can enjoy Capital curated playlists, some special messages from the Breakfast team’s top talent and prizes to be won for Drive Time listeners.
