Where to go now: McLaren technology centre with Gopuff

Last weekend saw the British Grand Prix and one of the most exciting races of the season. Whilst some of the Verge Magazine/Alternative Sport team got the front row action at Silverstone, Verge CEO Andre Dixon and Verge/Alternative Sport presenter George Eghator got to experience the behind the scenes drama at the world famous McLaren Technology Centre.

Set in the rolling Surrey Hills, the Avengers style architecture of McLaren’s headquarters clearly suggests there is some serious tech and cutting edge research taking place inside and every detail is a purposeful reminder of what it takes to produce a Formula 1 car.

As you walk in, you find yourself immediately in-front of a series of legendary McLarens including the 2008 world championship car driven by Lewis Hamilton. After this, we were invited through to the factory where we saw the engineers working on next year’s car and how the parts were made (sorry for obvious reasons, no pictures allowed!).

Then, it was on to the briefing room and mission control to watch the race control team in action. It was very exciting; we heard the conversations on the live feed between the McLaren team in the technology centre, at Silverstone and drivers, they had sophisticated data for absolutely everything which could affect the car – from tyres to weather.

Before leaving this amazing experience we were kindly gifted some amazing F1 goodies including a McLaren water bottle signed by Mclaren F1 drivers  Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo

Big thank you to Gopuff for a totally unforgettable experience!

In February this year, Gopuff – a leader in instant delivery – was announced as the Official Instant Delivery Partner of McLaren’s Formula 1 Team. The multi-year agreement comes as Gopuff continues its rapid global expansion and brings together one of the fastest in delivery with one of the most successful teams in motorsport. The partnership follows a string of successes for Gopuff, which expanded across key markets in the U.S. and launched in Europe late last year—the first move outside of its native U.S.—and is now available in France, as well as more than 20 United Kingdom cities, with more on the horizon.
