Where to go now: Bisushima

Last week we got to taste some of the most delicious Japanese food I have ever eaten whilst experiencing an awesome view across London’s West End at Bisushima – a stunning rooftop restaurant and bar located within the recently refurbished Page8 hotel in Trafalgar Square. Bisushima is a modern Japanese restaurant with a transformative vibe and atmosphere and the transitional space changes entirely depending on the time of day you visit.

The 6,000 square foot venue proudly boasts two large external roof terraces, directly overlooking iconic Trafalgar Square and the bottom of Covent Garden. Accommodating over 190 covers in total, it’s easily set to become one of the largest rooftop venues in the area. Overlooking the lights of London, Bisushima is the place to go to for delicious, authentic sushi and modern dishes with Japanese essence, accompanied by unique sake, champagne, cocktails and wines.

At Bisushima, where everything lives, grows and tastes as nature intended, its culinary style echoes the melodic flow of nature. Blending together artful modern cooking with a Japanese twist and authentic “edomae” style sushi with the finest ingredients sourced locally, from Japan and beyond, the outcome is one that is harmonious to the palate.

We started with some beautifully created cocktails – Natsukashi and the Shibumi which paired beautifully with the Chicken Kara-Age (an absolute must-have) and Shrimp Tempura. We also enjoyed the Trout Carpaccio which was deliciously fresh with a stunning yuzu dressing & tosazu jelly. We then went on to have the Grilled Iberico Pork which was perfectly tender, the Pithivier Pie which was packed with flavour and Yuan Miso Chilean Seabass which was subtle and well spiced.

As the night went on, the bar and rooftop filled with a young, trendy crowd who were after a chilled, sophisticated evening.

Despite being completely stuffed, we also managed to squeeze in dessert before heading out to the rooftop for a nightcap. As the night went on, the bar and rooftop filled with a young, trendy crowd who were after a chilled, sophisticated evening.

If you are looking for a place to meet friends for delicious cocktails with a great vibe should should try out Bisushima’s ‘Shima hour’, an innovative take on the classic Italian aperitivo.
