In January, Aston Martin was announced as the official ‘High-Performance Partner of the Jockey Club’, with its next exhibition taking place at the infamous Cheltenham Festival. For festival-goers who are excited to experience the Champion Hurdle, the Stayers’ Hurdle and the Gold Cup, this adds a new element of excitement to proceedings – as if it needed more already!
It’s also a perfect match for the competition itself. While spectators will be watching the best of the best fight it out for a podium finish, they will also get the chance to explore the best of the best in mechanical engineering, with Aston Martin set to unveil several of their best – and latest – models.
Aston Martin X Cheltenham Collaboration
This isn’t the first time that Aston Martin has been involved with horse racing. The iconic British carmaker made its debut during the Derby Festival at Epsom Downs last year, with the current contract seeing an extension to Cheltenham Festival, the Randox Grand National Festival, the QIPCO Guineas Festival, and many more.
It’s the Cheltenham Festival that has got people most excited, however. Referred to as the ‘Olympics of horse racing’, this is one of the biggest and most prestigious horse racing events in the world, behind only the Grand National in terms of recognition. Spread across four days, around 240,000 people attend the events every year, with stars like Idris Elba, Liv Tyler, Jamie Dornan, and even royalty like the late Queen spotted enjoying the races.
It’s also one of the best horse racing competitions in terms of rivalry. For decades, there has been an ongoing challenge between Great Britain and Ireland, as the home team tries to get one over those crossing the Irish Sea. This makes every day of the tournament exciting, riveting, and pretty much unmissable.
Not to mention, only with the Grand National can you get a more quintessentially British tournament than this. For a fundamentally British icon like Aston Martin, to be showcased at the Cheltenham Festival is a match made in heaven.
What Can You Expect?
If you’re going to be attending the Cheltenham Festival, and you’d like to experience the Aston Martin showcase, you can find them in ‘The Orchard’, where vehicles like the DBX707 and the DB12 – the world’s first Super Tourer – will be on display. As well as this, the DBX707 will be supporting all the major events, being used to transport VIP guests, racegoers and owners from the helipad terminals and into the racecourses – allowing them to swap the horsepower on the course to the horsepower of an Aston!
Even if you’re not one of those lucky few who can be transported in the vehicles, seeing them in the flesh is well worth it. The DBX707 – which isn’t a typical Aston Martin superstar – is a gorgeous specimen that deserves to be seen up close, and along with the DB12, Aston Martin have promised to display a thrilling collection of their most iconic vehicles. This could include the DBS – made famous by its appearance in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale – the V8 Vantage, the DB9, and the car that kicked off Aston Martin’s enduring popularity, the DB4.
When is Cheltenham Festival 2024?
Cheltenham Festival 2024 is set to take place between 12th-15th March, with the famous Gold Cup rounding off proceedings on Friday afternoon. The Aston Martin display will be available for ticket-goers from day one, meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the best of British racing and what is arguably the best of British manufacturing.
