WAGAMAMA RECLAIMS THE LUNCH BREAK

wagamama is shaking up the UK lunchtime routine with the launch of its new lunch time set menu, designed to offer workers and lunchtime guests a more nourishing, sociable and satisfying ‘real deal’ alternative to the standard supermarket meal deal.

Launching today as part of the summer menu, the set menu includes a main and a refreshing drink for £12, available Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm. Known for its quick, fresh-to-order service, this invites guests to enjoy wagamama favourites like yaki soba, a protein-packed thai beef salad, grilled chicken ramen and tasty donburi, alongside fresh new dishes such as a comforting pho. Each dish is paired with a select  drink or coffee, offering a more nourishing midday option that encourages guests to break their routine and reclaim their lunch break.

A recent nationally representative survey of 2,008 UK adults, commissioned by wagamama, found that while many lunches are solitary, or uninspiring, there is a clear appetite for experiences that are not just convenient but also nourishing, sociable and satisfying. The results found:

While UK workers recognised the convenience of the traditional supermarket meal deal, one in nine (11 per cent) described it as ‘boring’ and a further ten per cent find their meal deal lunch break rushed

  • Words used to describe how some workers felt after their usual weekday lunch routine included tired, sluggish and stressed
  • With 64 per cent of UK workers eating alone, 55 per cent say they wish they could take proper lunch breaks with their colleagues more often
  • When asked what would encourage them to take a proper lunch break, 27 per cent of working respondents said having access to more affordable, healthy and nourishing options; one in four (24 per cent) said a set menu that offered good value for money; and one in seven (14 per cent) said they would if there were better restaurants to dine in

Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer at wagamama, Emma Colquhoun says,

“Lunch should be more than a rushed, uninspiring meal. Our research shows that workers across the UK are craving something more nourishing and sociable from their midday break. That’s why we’ve created ‘wagamama lunch time’, a fresher and more sociable alternative to the standard meal deal sandwich.”

This exclusive offer is part of wagamama’s ongoing commitment to celebrating life’s big and small moments and recognising the power of shared experiences through food. With the belief that food is life at its heart, the ‘wagamama when’ campaign invites workers to step away from their usual routine, enjoy a more nourishing and sociable lunch and reclaim a proper midday break – wagamama when the meal deal doesn’t cut it.
