Burritos Crowned The UK’s Most Ordered Vegan Dish

Uber Eats reveals that more people than ever are committing to Veganuary, with orders for plant-based dishes in the first month of the year rising by a staggering 1250%* in the past year alone.

In 2021, the number of vegan dishes ordered on the app peaked on 23rd January, illustrating that Brits were still fully committed to a plant-based diet as the month started to come to an end. Plant-based burritos proved to be the most popular dish to order, followed by vegan pie and vegan jam doughnuts.

As a sign that businesses are increasingly catering to the huge demand, Uber Eats has seen a 59% rise in restaurants with vegan options on their menus, as plant-based diets become more mainstream.

Since 2018, the number of orders through the app involving a designated ‘vegan’ item (i.e. a vegan burger rather than a standalone vegetable) have rocketed by 1436%, with a million more orders per year containing a dish crafted specially to cater for a vegan audience.

Uber Eats has observed greener options grow rapidly on the grocery side of the app too. In 2021, kale was the fastest-growing food ingredient ordered on Uber Eats, followed by acai, cauliflower, cucumber, celery and seaweed. Coconut and brown rice also made it into the top ten.

To make Veganuary easier for customers, Uber Eats’ grocery service also offers a wide range of options when it comes to vegan foods. Vegan Quorn Dinosaurs were the most popular grocery item this year, followed by Veggie Fingers and Oat Milk.
