Uber Eats has collaborated with Hasbro to launch a free toy store just in time for the half term holidays, with parents on the hunt for new ways to keep their kids entertained in lockdown.
It comes as almost three quarters (70%) of parents admit they are feeling overwhelmed as they juggle work and home-schooling, while 56% said they are concerned at the thought of spending a half term holiday with fewer activities to entertain children.
While families would usually be spending this holiday week at the cinema, petting zoos or on playdates, parents are now on the lookout for other forms of entertainment for their little ones, with over half (60%) claiming their kids are bored at home and 50% saying they’ve run out of things to do.
To help busy parents, the virtual ‘Hasbro Toy Store’, offering seven of the play and entertainment company’s best-loved toys and games for just the cost of delivery, launches on the Uber Eats app from Wednesday morning.
The toys and games were chosen because they encourage family time and imaginative play and offer something for children of all ages. Once ordered, they will be delivered – contact-free – to your door in around 30 minutes.
With each order, customers will also receive an activity sheet to help their children spend time away from their screens after almost eight out of 10 parents said they want their children to take a break from TV and tech devices over the half term holidays.
Toys in The Hasbro Toy Store:
- Cluedo – Suitable for age 8+
- The Game of Life – Suitable for age 8+
- Play-Doh 4-Pack – Suitable for age 2+
- Play-Doh Kitchen Creations Candy Delight Playset – Suitable for age 3+
- Yahtzee – Suitable for age 8+
- Pit – Suitable for age 6+
- Boggle – Suitable for age 8+
With the average parent spending £99.55 per week on activities to entertain their children, Uber Eats and Hasbro teamed up to give away the toys to ensure all parents could benefit.
With almost three quarters of parents (71%) aiming to spend extra quality time with their kids this half-term holiday, the virtual toy store is launching at the perfect time. One in five (20%) mums and dads admit to having spent less than an hour per week playing games together with their children since Christmas, so the Hasbro Toy Store offers a great excuse.
The toy store will be open in London and Manchester from Wednesday 17th to Saturday 20th January.
