Anyone with an NHS or HSC email address will be able to claim two £10 Uber rides to and from work over the holidays, and a £10 meal or grocery delivery over Christmas via Uber Eats.
This is the fifth year Uber has supported NHS staff over Christmas. Last year more than 130,000 NHS and HSC staff used the offer to help keep them going over the busy holiday period.
Since March 2020, Uber has introduced a number of safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone who uses the Uber app and to help support the NHS, HSC and UK Government fight the coronavirus pandemic. Measures include:
Trips to vaccination hubs: Uber covered the cost of trips to vaccination hubs across the UK and Ireland.
Health & safety supplies: Uber partnered with Unilever to provide drivers with supplies such as face masks, hand sanitisers, and antibacterial wipes to help keep everyone in the vehicle safe.
“No Mask, No Ride” policy: Uber requires that drivers and riders wear a mask when giving or taking rides. Users who do not comply with this requirement may be reported and subsequently asked to submit a selfie showing that they are wearing a mask or face covering before they will be permitted to request their next ride.
Ready to ride checklist: Every time you take a trip, you will be asked to confirm that you’ve taken the appropriate safety steps, including wearing a face covering and washing or sanitising your hands. Drivers are also required to complete a similar checklist.
Back seat policy: To help keep as much distance between riders and drivers, riders are no longer permitted to sit in the front seat when on a trip.
Young people incentives: To encourage students to get jabbed before returning to University campuses, Uber provided delivery and rides vouchers through Unidays.
Dee Jama, NHS Neonatal Nurse in Birmingham, said: “It’s amazing to receive this helping hand from Uber over the busy festive period again this year. After particularly long days or nights at the hospital, making the journey home on public transport or cooking a meal for myself and my family can really be exhausting. It’s just one less thing to worry about over the holidays.”
NHS and HSC staff need to ensure that an Uber account is linked to their NHS or HSC email. Users will then be sent a promo code which they will need to add to their Uber account in order to claim the offer.
The Uber and Uber Eats codes can be redeemed for trips and orders on the 24 & 25 December 2021 only.
