The PGA Tour schedule is filled with different types of courses in different parts of the United States. Each one is unique and presents a different challenge or favors a different part of the game.
Here are the five best golf courses that the PGA Tour travels to each season:
Pebble Beach Golf Links
Pebble Beach Golf Links is one of the premier golf courses in the world. The course is located along the coast of the Monterey Peninsula in southern California, and the views along the golf course are always stunning. The par-3 seventh hole is one of the most recognizable in golf, as players hit out onto a small peninsula toward the coastline. The beauty of the golf course can be seen through the television broadcast, which makes watching the tournament, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, one of the best to watch on the PGA Tour.
Low scores are typical at Pebble Beach, like most weeks on the PGA Tour. In 2026, Collin Morikawa won the tournament with a final score of 22 under par, which tied the lowest four-round score in tournament history. The weather can be variable along the coast in mid-February, in 2024 the tournament was cut down to 54 holes because of unplayable weather conditions, but Pebble Beach is always one of the most visually appealing courses each season.
Muirfield Village Golf Club
Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio is the host of the Memorial Tournament and is one of the most difficult courses on the PGA Tour. This season, Justin Thomas said that the second round of the Memorial Tournament in 2026 was the most difficult round of golf he’s ever played. Many of the courses on the PGA Tour schedule can be birdie-fests for many players, but Muirfield isn’t one of those. Tournament host Jack Nicklaus continues to revamp the course, which allows it to be one of the most difficult tournaments.
J.T. Poston won the tournament this year in a playoff against Ryan Gerard. Both players hit the 12 under par mark at the end of 72 holes, but high scores were common. Rickie Fowler missed the cut this year after shooting 79-82. Jordan Spieth missed the cut with a 71-79. And aside from being one of the most difficult tests, Muirfield Village has some of the stunning views for a course in the heart of the Midwest.
The Riviera Country Club
Like Pebble Beach, The Riviera Country Club in California hosts a tournament during the PGA Tour’s West Coast swing to start the season. Riviera is the site of the Genesis Invitational, which Jacob Bridgeman won in 2026 with a score of 18 under par.
In more recent seasons, players have been able to overpower the golf course more than they were before. According to Data Golf, Riviera strongly favored driving length and distance rather than accuracy. However, it’s one of the most historic golf courses that the PGA Tour goes to each season and consistently identifies the best golfers.
TPC Sawgrass
TPC Sawgrass in Florida is the host of the PLAYERS Championship, which is the premier event on the PGA Tour. One of the defining holes of the course is the par-3 17th hole. The green is situated on an island with no area for a bailout. It can make or break some players’ tournament showings, especially as one of the final holes on the course.
Cameron Young won at TPC Sawgrass in 2026 with a final score of 13 under par. It’s one of the few courses on the PGA Tour that favors driving accuracy over distance, according to Data Golf, making it a more difficult and fairer test for most players on the PGA Tour.
Harbour Town Golf Links
Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina hosts the RBC Heritage each year, which comes the week after the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. It’s a difficult tournament to follow up, but Harbour Town provides a nice slowdown after a big week at the Masters Tournament.
Harbour Town is a fair test for the players on tour. There’s trouble, especially during the finishing stretch, but if they stay in the fairway, it’s not too tall a task. In 2026, Matthew Fitzpatrick won the tournament in a playoff over Scottie Scheffler. Both players had a score of 18 under par after 72 holes.
