Amid rising costs and mid-contract price increases from several UK mobile providers, Tesco Mobile has announced a move designed to give customers greater financial certainty: freezing the basic monthly price for customers on its Clubcard Price deals for the duration of their minimum contract.
The UK mobile network says the initiative will help families avoid unexpected bill increases during their contracts, providing stability at a time when many households are closely monitoring their spending. The announcement comes alongside new research revealing that 84% of Brits say it’s important to enjoy the good things in life before they change.
Tesco Mobile Commits to Freezing Prices on Clubcard Deals
Customers signing up to Clubcard Price deals with Tesco Mobile will now have their basic monthly contract cost fixed for the full minimum contract period. The move is designed to shield customers from mid-contract price hikes — something many UK consumers have experienced in recent years across the telecoms sector.
According to the company, price certainty plays a major role in everyday financial wellbeing. Research commissioned by Tesco Mobile found that nearly nine in ten people in the UK (89%) consider stability in everyday costs to be important.
More than six in ten respondents (62%) said they wish they could “freeze” rising prices at a lower rate, while:
-
50% said predictable costs help them manage household finances
-
48% said it reduces stress
-
46% said it makes budgeting easier
Laura Joseph, Chief Customer Officer at Tesco Mobile, said the findings highlight how much people value consistency in their daily lives.
“Just as we hold onto our favourite memories, Brits also value predictability in everyday life. It’s no surprise that alongside nostalgia for special moments, people want stability in the costs that matter most day to day.”
Brits Reveal the Moments They Wish They Could Freeze
Alongside financial stability, the research also revealed the UK’s nostalgic side. Nearly half of Brits (48%) say they often reminisce about meaningful moments — doing so around three times a week on average.
In fact, eight in ten people (81%) say they try to appreciate special moments while they’re happening, while 70% admit they regularly revisit photos or videos to relive memories.
When asked which moment they would most like to “freeze in time,” moments of pure happiness ranked highest, chosen by 38% of respondents.
Some of the most cherished moments people wish they could relive include:
-
Holding their child for the first time
-
A family gathering when everyone was together
-
An unforgettable family holiday
-
Their wedding day
-
A magical childhood Christmas morning
-
Getting the keys to their first home
-
Passing their driving test
-
Watching their favourite band in concert
Interestingly, around 2.7 million UK adults said the one cost they would most want to lock in forever is their first mobile phone contract — highlighting how price predictability remains a key concern.
Free Frozen Yoghurts Pop-Up at King’s Cross
To bring the concept of “freezing moments” to life, Tesco Mobile launched a playful activation in London, parking a “Fro-Yo” van outside King’s Cross Station to give away complimentary frozen yoghurts.
The pop-up event was inspired by another nostalgic insight from the research: up to 3.5 million Brits say they wish they could freeze the moment they first tried ice cream.
Visitors were invited to enjoy a nostalgic treat while learning more about Tesco Mobile’s frozen-price Clubcard deals. The pop-up ran between 10am and 4pm on 12 March, while stocks lasted.
Nostalgia Meets Financial Stability
The brand says the campaign highlights the link between cherished memories and the desire for everyday reliability — especially when it comes to household costs.
Joseph added:
“The research shows people aren’t just nostalgic for special moments, but for a time when everyday costs felt more predictable. With many wishing they could freeze prices as well as memories, it’s clear that stability plays a huge role in helping households feel more in control. When costs are easier to manage, it can reduce stress and give people greater confidence in their day-to-day finances — and that is what we aim to do with our tariff freeze.”
