Global electronics giant TCL has unveiled its latest premium television lineup, introducing the new C7L-UK and C8L-UK SQD-Mini LED TVs to the UK market. Designed to deliver a true cinematic experience at home, the new models combine ultra-bright displays, advanced Mini LED technology, immersive audio, and gaming-focused features.
The launch further strengthens TCL’s position in the premium TV market, with the company claiming global leadership in Mini LED TVs, ultra-large TVs, and Google TV-powered displays.
TCL Introduces Next-Generation SQD-Mini LED Technology
At the centre of the new TVs is TCL’s latest Super Quantum Dot (SQD) technology, which the company says delivers a 69% increase in colour accuracy compared to standard Quantum Dot displays.
Both the C7L-UK and C8L-UK models use TCL’s Deep Colour System, designed to reduce light bleed between bright and dark areas of the screen. This allows for improved contrast levels and richer colours, helping the TVs deliver visuals that rival OLED displays.
The new SQD-Mini LED panels also offer up to 33% better colour gamut performance and provide full BT.2020 colour gamut coverage, making them ideal for HDR films, streaming content, and gaming.

Higher Brightness and Improved Dimming Zones
A major focus of TCL’s latest lineup is brightness and precision backlight control.
The C7L-UK features up to 2,176 dimming zones and can reach up to 3,000 nits of peak HDR brightness. Meanwhile, the more premium C8L-UK steps things up with up to 4,032 dimming zones and an impressive peak brightness of 6,000 nits.
Both models support major HDR formats including HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ, and IMAX Enhanced, giving viewers access to enhanced contrast, improved colour depth, and more accurate cinematic presentation.
The TVs are also powered by TCL’s TSR AiPQ processor, which uses AI-driven upscaling and motion enhancement technology to improve picture quality across films, sports, and live broadcasts.
TCL Targets Gamers With 144Hz and 288Hz Refresh Rates
Gaming is another major selling point for the new range.
Both TVs support native 4K at 144Hz, while TCL’s Game Boost mode can push refresh rates up to 288Hz Variable Refresh Rate in Full HD mode. This makes the C7L-UK and C8L-UK particularly attractive for competitive gaming and next-generation consoles.
The high refresh rates are designed to reduce motion blur and screen tearing, creating smoother gameplay experiences for fast-paced shooters, racing games, and sports titles.
Bang & Olufsen Audio and Premium Design
Alongside the visual upgrades, TCL has also partnered with Bang & Olufsen to improve sound performance across the C-series lineup.
Both TVs include integrated 2.1 surround sound systems with Dolby Atmos support, helping to create a more immersive audio experience without the immediate need for a separate soundbar.
The C8L-UK also features TCL’s ZeroBorder display design, minimising the black border between the active display and bezel for a cleaner and more premium appearance.
