SWEDEN’S KAJ EMERGES AS FAN FAVOURITE ON SPOTIFY AHEAD OF EUROVISION 2025

As the countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 begins, new streaming data from Spotify reveals Swedish entry KAJ has emerged as the current fan favourite.

Swedish Entry Kaj Tops The Global Charts

Ahead of the semi-finals kicking off in Basel, Switzerland next week, KAJ’s “Bara Bada Bastu” has generated over twice as many streams as its closest rival.

Sweden is the most successful country in the Eurovision Song Contest, with a total of seven victories. It last won the contest in 2023 with “Tattoo“, performed by iconic contestant Loreen, who made Eurovision history as the first female entrant to win twice, first in 2012 with “Euphoria“.

The Top Five Most-streamed Entries For The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest

The second most-streamed entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is Italy’s entry, “Volevo essere un duro“, by Lucio Corsi. This is closely followed by the Netherlands’ entry “C’est La Vie” by Claude.

Rounding out the top five is San Marino’s entry “Tutta L’Italia” by Gabry Ponte in fourth place, and Estonia’s Tommy Cash with “Espresso Macchiatto” in fifth.

The Most Popular Entries In The UK

However, in the UK, the table looks a little different. Sweden’s entry – KAJ’s “Bara Bada Bastu” – remains the most streamed entry, followed by the UK’s own entry, Remember Monday’s “What The Hell Just Happened?” in second.

Other entries appearing in the top five in the UK include: Estonia’s entry – Tommy Cash’s Espresso Macchiato is ranked third, Norway’s entry – Kyle Alessandro’s Lighter – is in fourth, and Australia’s entry Go-Jo with Milkshake Man is in fifth.

The UK has a significant history in the Eurovision Song Contest, having won five times and hosted it nine times. The UK also holds the record for the most second-place finishes, with 16 runner-up spots. The UK’s most recent win was in 1997 – with Katrina & The Waves and “Love Shine A Light”.

This year, Remember Monday will represent their country with “What The Hell Just Happened?“. Their entry is currently ranked 21st out of 37 for global streams.

Growing European Talent

Eurovision is one of Europe’s most iconic cultural moments, uplifting European talent and supporting artists in growing global fan bases. Following Nemo’s triumphant win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with “The Code“, their career has taken off, with streams of the artist growing by more than 1,700% over the past year alone.

When examining the streaming data since 2011, Spotify data reveals how the Eurovision Song Contest helps fuel the export of European talent.  On average, past winners of the Eurovision Song Contest grew their streams on Spotify by more than 1,500% in the year following their winning performance.

Austrian entrant Conchita Wurst, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 with “Rise Like a Phoenix“, experienced a staggering stream growth of more than 6,000% in the year following his victory.
