Vertigo Releasing has confirmed that its latest faux true-crime docu-horror, Strange Harvest, will be haunting screens later this month. Written and directed by Stuart Ortiz — best known for the cult horror hit Grave Encounters — the film will be available on Digital Download in the UK from 27th October, and in Australia and New Zealand from 29th October.
Starring Peter Zizzo, Terri Apple, Andy Lauer, Matthew Peschio, Janna Cardia, Thomas Wolfe Jr, Tim Shelburne, Christina Helene Bra, and LA Williams, Strange Harvest promises to blend the unsettling realism of true crime with the nightmarish horror of the supernatural.

A Case That’s Anything but Routine
When a routine welfare check in suburban San Bernardino turns into a grisly discovery, detectives Joe Kirby and Lexi Taylor find themselves face-to-face with a horror straight out of their past. A family of three is found bound, bled, and posed beneath a disturbing symbol painted in blood — one eerily familiar to a serial killer thought to have vanished 15 years ago.
Soon, “Mr. Shiny” resurfaces, leaving behind a trail of gruesome crime scenes. Victims are subjected to macabre fates — one trapped in a swimming pool full of leeches, another flayed and displayed in a public park. As Kirby and Taylor dig deeper, it becomes clear that these murders might be connected to cosmic phenomena and otherworldly forces far beyond human comprehension.
Critical Acclaim Before Release
Already generating buzz, Strange Harvest currently holds an impressive 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised its visceral tension and inventive storytelling — with Film Threat calling it “a brutal, well-crafted descent into depravity that walks a tightrope between realism and horror fantasy.”
Dread Central described it as “phenomenal, disturbing, and creepy,” while Collider noted its “organic, unnerving, and proficiently grounded” take on modern horror.
Watch Strange Harvest This Halloween Season
Perfectly timed for spooky season, Strange Harvest looks set to become a must-watch for horror fans seeking something darker and more cerebral. Catch it on Digital Download in the UK from 27th October, and in Australia and New Zealand from 29th October.
