London’s Odeon Leicester Square rolled out the red carpet this evening as Disney and Pixar officially launched Toy Story 5 with a star-studded UK event marking the first stop of the film’s global promotional tour.
Cast members Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack and Greta Lee were joined by presenters Jordan North and Sian Welby, alongside director Andrew Stanton and producer Lindsey Collins, for the highly anticipated launch celebration in the capital.
Hosted by comedian Joel Dommett and broadcaster Charlie Marlowe, the event also made history as the first UK premiere to be livestreamed internationally on Disney+. Fans around the world were able to tune into the red carpet action live, with the stream remaining available on demand from tonight.
The fifth instalment in Pixar’s beloved Toy Story franchise sees Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the gang facing a new challenge in the modern world of technology. This time, the toys come up against Lilypad, a new tablet device voiced by Greta Lee, whose ideas about playtime threaten to disrupt Bonnie’s relationship with her toys.
Tom Hanks returns as Woody, while Tim Allen reprises his role as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack returns as fan favourite Jessie. According to Disney and Pixar, Toy Story 5 explores the clash between traditional imaginative play and the growing influence of tech in children’s lives.
The film is directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton, with Kenna Harris serving as co-director and Lindsey Collins producing. Long-time Toy Story collaborator Randy Newman also returns to compose the score for his fifth film in the franchise.
Since the original Toy Story debuted in 1995 as the world’s first fully computer-animated feature film, the series has become one of Pixar’s most successful and influential franchises, earning multiple Academy Awards and billions at the global box office.
Toy Story 5 releases exclusively in cinemas on 19 June 2026, with preview screenings beginning on 18 June.
