Rising multi-instrumentalist and producer Lola Bates has unveiled her latest single, ‘Madonna Gold’, a sensual and slow-burning track that further teases her upcoming debut album Love and Power. The single is available now across all major streaming platforms via Virgin Music Group.
Serving as the second release from the project, ‘Madonna Gold’ builds on Bates’ evolving exploration of intimacy, power, and self-discovery—offering listeners a deeply personal and atmospheric listening experience.
A Hypnotic Dive Into Love, Lust And Connection
Written at her upright piano in Laurel Canyon, ‘Madonna Gold’ grew into a richly textured record layered with haunting melodies and hypnotic rhythms. Drawing inspiration from artists like PJ Harvey and The Stone Roses, the track blends alternative rock sensibilities with an intimate, confessional tone.
Bates collaborated with an impressive roster of musicians and producers, including composer Tyler Bates on electric guitar and Puma of Sunday (1994) on drums. The track was co-produced with Maxwell Joseph and mixed by award-winning engineer Robert Carranza.
Speaking about the release, Bates described the creative process as fluid and instinctive, noting how the song “flowed like water” while pushing her artistry to new heights. Lyrically, ‘Madonna Gold’ tackles the blurred lines between love and lust, reflecting on modern intimacy in an era shaped by digital connection and overexposure.
Expanding the world of Love and Power
The single follows Bates’ debut track ‘Girl’s Girl’, which introduced listeners to the darker, emotionally complex themes at the heart of Love and Power. With ‘Madonna Gold’, she continues to expand both the sonic palette and narrative scope of the album, cementing her identity as a bold and introspective artist.
