SPOTIFY DATA REVEALS SWEDEN’S “KAJ” AS THE UK’S EUROVISION FAN FAVOURITE

As Europe came together to celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night, where Austria’s JJ was crowned this year’s winner with the track “Wasted Love“, Spotify data reveals that Sweden’s entry “Bara Bada Bastuby KAJ was the unofficial Eurovision fan favourite, receiving over 5.6 million global streams during Eurovision week.

Historic Win For Austria

Austria celebrated a landmark moment on Saturday night as JJ secured the country’s third-ever Eurovision victory. The winning track, “Wasted Love”, joins the ranks of Austria’s previous champions – Udo Jürgens in 1966 and Conchita Wurst in 2014.

The track especially resonated with Gen Z fans worldwide. Listeners aged 18-24 accounted for the majority of streams – proving JJ’s breakout hit struck a powerful chord with a new generation.

Sweden Hailed as the “Fans’ Winner” Of The Contest

While Austria claimed the official Eurovision trophy, Spotify streaming data reveals that Sweden’s entry KAJ won the hearts of fans worldwide. Their track “Bara Bada Bastu” was the most-streamed song of all competing entries during Eurovision week – securing over 5.6 million streams.

Hot on Sweden’s heels was Estonia’s Tommy Cash, whose Europop hit “Espresso Macchiato” saw over 3.4 million streams throughout the week of the final. The Netherlands’ Claude followed in third place, with “C’est La Vie” enjoying 3.1 million streams in the final week, while Germany’s Abor & Tynna ranked fourth with “Baller” at over 2.7 million streams. Rounding out the top five was Norway’s Kyle Alessandro with “Lighter” which also saw over 2.7 million plays during Eurovision week.

This highlights the global platform Eurovision gives artists, despite their final ranking on the night.

KAJ also crowned Eurovision fan favourite in the UK

Spotify can also reveal KAJ was the UK’s favourite Eurovision entry this year, accumulating the most streams on final week. KAJ stormed ahead of the UK’s own entry – Remember Monday with “What The Hell Just Happened?”, which accumulated the second highest streams from the UK in the week of the Eurovision final.

This was closely followed by:

  • Estonia’s Tommy Cash, whose Europop hit “Espresso Macchiato” came in third place
  • Norway’s Kyle Alessandro with “Lighter” came in fourth place during Eurovision week.
  • Germany’s Abor & Tynna ranked fifth with their track “Baller”.

The UK also streamed Spotify’s official Eurovision playlist more than any other country across Europe, ranking 1st place across the continent.

Spotify’s Eurovision Playlist sees record-breaking success

Fans across the globe have enjoyed streaming their favourite Eurovision tracks more than ever before, with Spotify’s official Eurovision Playlist being the most streamed playlist across the world on the day of the Eurovision final.

As Eurovision returned to Switzerland in 2025—the same country that launched Céline Dion to global fame in 1988—fans revisited one of the contest’s most iconic moments. Dion’s winning track Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, which brought victory to Switzerland 37 years ago, has seen a remarkable resurgence, with over a 550% increase in global streams since March 2025 and over a 610% spike across Europe.

With nostalgia running high and Switzerland back in the Eurovision spotlight, it’s clear that Dion’s timeless performance still resonates with fans old and new.
