Spider-Noir is officially swinging onto screens this month, with Prime Video unveiling a brand-new trailer for the highly anticipated live-action Marvel series starring Nicolas Cage in his first leading television role.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the noir-inspired superhero drama launches globally on 27 May 2026 across more than 240 countries and territories via Prime Video.
One of the most unique aspects of the series is its dual viewing format. Fans can choose between an “Authentic Black & White” version or a “True-Hue Full Color” presentation, offering two distinct cinematic experiences.
What Is Spider-Noir About?
Based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, the series follows Ben Reilly, played by Nicolas Cage, a troubled private investigator navigating the gritty streets of 1930s New York.
Haunted by a devastating personal tragedy, Reilly is forced to confront his mysterious former life as the city’s only superhero. The series blends hard-boiled detective storytelling with the darker edge of Marvel mythology, creating a stylish reimagining of the Spider-Man universe.
Fans may recognise Cage’s connection to the character from his acclaimed voice performance as Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Star-Studded Cast Joins Nicolas Cage
Alongside Cage, the series features an impressive ensemble cast including:
- Lamorne Morris
- Li Jun Li
- Abraham Popoola
- Karen Rodriguez
- Jack Huston
- Brendan Gleeson
Guest appearances will also include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Amanda Schull and more.
Creative Team Behind the Series
The first two episodes are directed and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Harry Bradbeer, best known for Fleabag and Killing Eve.
Series co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot developed the project alongside the Oscar-winning creative team behind Into the Spider-Verse:
- Phil Lord
- Christopher Miller
- Amy Pascal
Cage also serves as an executive producer on the project alongside Pavlina Hatoupis.
A Stylish New Chapter for Marvel Television
The first trailer showcases rain-soaked streets, smoky jazz clubs, shadowy gangsters and brutal action sequences that lean heavily into classic noir cinema aesthetics.
The project also marks another major expansion of Sony’s live-action Marvel universe following the success of animated Spider-Verse films and recent television adaptations.
With its vintage setting, detective-thriller atmosphere and Nicolas Cage’s return to the character, Spider-Noir is already shaping up to be one of the most visually distinctive superhero series of 2026.
When Does Spider-Noir Release?
Spider-Noir premieres globally on 27 May 2026 exclusively via Prime Video UK.
