Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in emphatic fashion bringing a wild, wonderful and wacky week of incredible moments destined to leave a memory for a lifetime. There’s truly no business like snow business.
Spread across the streets and slopes of the stunning village of Mayrhofen, Snowbombing did what Snowbombing does best. Giant headline sets from some of the biggest and most adored names in electronic music. Side-splitting craft of daft moments from the very first note. Mountaintop fun from special DJ performances to brunches, speed-dating, pro-ski competitions and more. The unmistakable heart of all things Snowbombing showed itself in full force for a week that’s bound to go down in the history books by setting the bar for all other international festival experiences.
Kicking off on Monday, Snowbombing royalty and THE iconic trailblazer of electronic music Fatboy Slim made history by kicking off a 24 hour period where he played 6 shows. Surprising fans at Mayrhofen’s moreish butcher home Hans The Butcher, Fatboy Slim laid the marker with a set that’ll live long in the memories of those lucky fans able to squeeze into the butcher shop. Diving into the crowd, waving sausages and dropping banger after banger – it laid the course for a mammoth headline set at the famed Racket Club as a part of his Fatboy Slim Loves takeover. Proving once again why he remains on top, he wasn’t finished there – with Tuesday seeing him embark on Fatboy Slim’s Mountaintop Marathon which saw the dance legend pop up for surprise sets across the mountains of Mayrhofen. From a jaw-dropping mountaintop slammer to further shows across the day – Fatboy Slim celebrated in a big way for Snowbombing 2024 and in the process created the sort of moment that could only happen at The World’s Greatest Show On Snow.
That spirit of the ridiculous, the brilliant and the bonkers stayed true through the week. A mammoth headline set from Bicep presenting their eye-popping Chroma A/V DJ show saw the duo showcase just why they sit as one of the most important and biggest electronic artists of the past few years complete with a mindblowing new show – whilst fizzing bigtime celebrations rang out at The Racket Club courtesy of Andy C, Wilkinson, Hybrid Minds, Hedex, Dimension, Bou, My Nu Leng and more. Glitterbox returned once again for an irresistible release-filled spectacle with Jayda G and Horse Meat Disco as well as statement night turns from Eliza Rose, Confidence Man (DJs), KILIMANJARO and more! Over at the undeniable Bruck ‘n’ Stadl, Snowbombers partied through the night with late night rippers from Ewan McVicar (proving himself to be a highlight of the festival with a glorious set soundtracking Thursday night). Chris Stussy saw crowds queuing around the venue desperate to dive into his scene-stealing world, whilst takeovers from Sarah Story (STORIES) and He.She.They showcased evenings of vibrant underground culture. HAAi, Jasper Tygner, Rossi and many more fuelled a week where the wide spectrum of dance music was brought to the fore once more.
That in itself? Enough to blow away the competition as a festival week that’d rival any for sheer high-quality makers. But we’re not done yet.
Coming alive throughout the week and firmly sitting at the core of everything Snowbombing is about – the Craft Of Daft programming saw the weird and wonderful light up Snowbombing with moments that had festival goers in pools of laughter. Sticking two fingers up to the standard or the boring – it was full of “did that really just happen” moments. Bongo’s Bingo returned to Mayrhofen in a big way, with three special shows including their biggest show snow ever taking over The Racket Club early on Wednesday evening. There was even time for them to take over one of the festival’s eruptive Mountaintop Brunches alongside takeovers through the week from UKG, The Provibers, Hip Hop Karaoke and Famous First Words. The latter two made their mark at the homebase of all things nonsense at Snowbombing with The Fun Haus: Famous First Words causing unbridled scenes with a talent show like no other and Hip Hop Karaoke seeing the Snowbombing masses give it their all in front of a packed room. Massaoke lead the Snowbombing choir through giant singalong bangers that started mosh-pits and so much more while DJ Yoda’s History Of Hip-Hop stood as a thrilling run through the genre’s rich history in party-fashion. Turning what a party can be well and truly on its head – Snowbombing’s spirit of revelling in the moment rang true once more.
With the slopes welcoming skiers and snowboarders to push away the morning hangovers with gorgeous landscapes, unbelievable stages, relaxing pool/spa chillouts and a cheeky Aperol or four – there’s no place quite like it or can compare to Snowbombing. After 25 years, Snowbombing is only just getting started. The essential global party experience that needs to be seen to be believed.
