Seiko has introduced the Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT. The first ever Presage Craftsmanship timepiece to have GMT functionality. This exceptional watch marries the timeless art of Urushi lacquering with the convenience of a GMT function, enabling the display of multiple time zones simultaneously.
Urushi is a natural lacquer obtained from the sap of the Japanese lacquer tree; and the deep black Urushi lacquer dial is created using a centuries-old technique, typically reserved for fine decorative objects like bowls and furniture. As the first GMT model in the Presage Craftsmanship series, it is powered by Seiko’s in-house 6R54 calibre, offering a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy rate of -15/+25 seconds per day. The timepiece is complemented by a classic brown calf leather strap, ethically sourced from an LWG-certified tanner, a reflection of the brand’s commitment to sustainable production, as recognised by the Leather Working Group.
The Seiko Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT will be available to pre-order from the 17th September at seikoboutique.co.uk, £1,590.
