PUMA AND HAJIME SORAYAMA’S FIRST-EVER COLLABORATION INSPIRED BY ROBOTICS AND FUTURISM

PUMA partners with Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama to release the new PUMA x Sorayama collection, which honors PUMA’s 75th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the PUMA Clyde. The collection draws inspiration from Sorayama’s signature aesthetic; an interpretation of surrealistic futurism. This collaboration also unveils a special robotic PUMA cat created by Hajime Sorayama.

As an artist with international recognition, Hajime Sorayama is renowned for his imaginative depictions of robotics. Using romantic, novel, and futuristic expressions, he is known for his ability to depict cold and hard metal in a living way, transporting viewers to a surrealistic cyber world. Sorayama blurs the boundaries between life and machine, aligning with PUMAs philosophy of breaking boundaries, and the aim of working with influential collaborators all around the world to co-explore unique design languages.

To celebrate PUMA’s 75th birthday, Hajime Sorayama created a unique robotic PUMA cat pattern, plus a new metal logo for the brand. The co-branded products feature embroidery and metallic fabrics, bringing PUMA and Sorayama’s exclusive artwork to life.

For apparel, the new PUMA x Sorayama collection offers a wide selection of futuristic looks, with patterns designed by Hajime Sorayama against a silver, white, and gray background. The Sukajan Jacket takes influence from sci-fi, marked by the collaborative robotic PUMA cat pattern found across embroidered patches and metallic fabrics. The T7 jacket and graphic Crewneck Sweater are patterned by Sorayama’s early artworks with metallic fabrics, including visuals like a robotic flying horse and elephant. Accessories are highlighted by a Shoulder Bag and Hat featuring the PUMA collaborative cat pattern and silver reflective braid detail.

Exclusive to the APAC region, PUMA x SORAYAMA collection will be available online, and at selected retailers from October 22, 2023, while the made-in-Japan PUMA x SOYARAMA Clyde is set to launch globally.
