PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR THE REMEDY SET FOR SXSW LONDON DEBUT!

Horror fans have a chilling new title to add to their watchlist as The Remedy, directed by Alex Kahuam, is set to make its World Premiere at SXSW London on 3rd June, with an additional screening scheduled for 6th June.

The film arrives courtesy of Film Seekers, in association with Kahuam Films, Sparta Productions and Breakwall Pictures, and is already generating buzz for its blend of psychological tension and supernatural horror.

A Star-Studded Cast Brings the Nightmare to Life

The Remedy boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Timothy Granaderos (13 Reasons Why), London Thor (Gen V, The Boys), Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Star Trek: Discovery), Jenny O’Hara (Devil), and Chris Mulkey (Whiplash, Twin Peaks).

Together, they bring to life a haunting story that explores grief, family tension and the terrifying unknown.

Inside the Story: When Healing Turns Horrific

At the heart of The Remedy is Jason, a devoted son caring for his seriously ill mother, Maria. Sleep-deprived and emotionally drained, Jason begins experiencing disturbing nightmares of a monstrous entity consuming his mother.

As his mental state deteriorates, the line between dream and reality starts to blur.

Meanwhile, his estranged sister Rachel—fresh out of psychiatric care—believes a sinister force has taken hold of their home. Her attempts to protect the family through forbidden spiritual practices put her directly at odds with Jason, who dismisses her fears.

In a desperate bid to save his mother, Jason turns to an ancient and obscure remedy. What follows is both miraculous and deeply unsettling: Maria’s health improves, but eerie and increasingly violent disturbances begin to unfold around them.

What starts as hope quickly spirals into paranoia, as Jason is forced to confront a terrifying possibility—something evil may have been unleashed.

A Festival Spotlight for a Rising Horror Talent

Speaking about the premiere, director Alex Kahuam expressed his excitement:

“I’m beyond excited to give horror fans a first look at The Remedy, a genre film that blends psychological tension and supernatural eeriness. I’m honoured that the film was selected for its World Premiere at SXSW London.”

Writer and producer Daniel Kuhlman echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of the festival:

“SXSW London’s reputation in the industry speaks for itself. To be included among such an incredible group of filmmakers is the honour of a lifetime.”

Why The Remedy Should Be on Your Radar

With its unsettling premise, strong cast, and festival debut, The Remedy is shaping up to be one of the must-watch horror films of the year. Combining psychological depth with supernatural scares, it taps into themes of grief, isolation and belief—making it more than just a typical horror flick.
