NVIDIA GEFORCE NOW COMES TO FIREFOX: CLOUD GAMING SUPPORT ARRIVES ON WINDOWS!

The wait is finally over for Firefox users looking to take their cloud gaming experience to the next level.

Mozilla and NVIDIA have announced that NVIDIA GeForce NOW is now officially supported on Firefox for Windows, opening up RTX-powered cloud gaming to millions of browser users.

The move means gamers can stream more than 2,000 PC games directly through their browser, without needing to download large game files, install updates or upgrade their existing hardware.

GeForce NOW Arrives on Firefox

Cloud gaming can be particularly demanding for web browsers, with every input, frame and connection potentially affecting the experience. According to Mozilla, the Firefox and NVIDIA teams have spent months working together to bring GeForce NOW to the browser.

Firefox users can now access GeForce NOW on Windows and stream supported PC games directly from their browser.

For members of the GeForce NOW Ultimate tier, the service supports gaming at resolutions of up to 1440p and 120 frames per second, delivering a high-performance experience without requiring a traditional gaming PC capable of running the games locally.

Andrew Fear, Director of NVIDIA GeForce NOW, said Firefox had earned its place among the service’s supported browsers after meeting NVIDIA’s standards for browser-based cloud gaming.

A More Customisable Cloud Gaming Experience

One of Firefox’s major selling points is its focus on browser customisation, and that extends into the gaming experience.

Users can personalise Firefox with themes, custom colours and tab settings, allowing their browser setup to feel more like an extension of their gaming environment rather than simply another application window.

Firefox also makes it possible to combine gaming with other browser-based activities. Players can use Split View for a Discord call, keep a game guide open in another tab or check Reddit between matches before switching back to full-screen gameplay.

That means gamers don’t necessarily need to choose between their browser and their cloud gaming service.

Stream Games From Your Existing Library

GeForce NOW supports games from several major PC storefronts, meaning players can connect their existing libraries rather than starting from scratch.

Supported platforms include Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Xbox PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect, depending on game availability through GeForce NOW.

That could make the Firefox launch particularly useful for players who already have a sizeable PC game collection.

Whether you’re heading back to Night City in Cyberpunk 2077, preparing for Halo: Campaign Evolved or jumping into a quick game of Fortnite, Firefox users can now access compatible titles through GeForce NOW without downloading them directly to their PC.

How to Use GeForce NOW on Firefox

Getting started is straightforward.

Firefox users need to:

  1. Update to the latest version of Firefox.
  2. Visit GeForce NOW.
  3. Sign in with their GeForce NOW account.
  4. Connect their supported game libraries and start streaming.

The service eliminates the need for lengthy downloads and installations, although performance will still depend on factors such as internet connection quality and the user’s hardware.

What’s Next for NVIDIA and Mozilla?

The Firefox launch could be just the beginning of the partnership between NVIDIA and Mozilla.

NVIDIA is set to appear at Gamescom on August 25, where the company says it will have more to share about what the collaboration means for gamers.

For Firefox users who have been waiting for official GeForce NOW support, however, the biggest update is already here: cloud gaming has officially arrived on Firefox for Windows.
