Brits may be known for their daily routines, but when it comes to coffee, habits are changing fast. New research from Nespresso reveals that a growing number of people across the UK are stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing bold flavours and experimental brews as part of a wider cultural shift.
According to the study, 68% of Brits are now exploring new coffee flavours, while nearly half (47%) see their daily cup as an opportunity for creativity. It’s a clear sign that the traditional “same old brew” is being replaced by a more adventurous approach to caffeine.
A New Coffee Culture Is Brewing
Coffee remains an essential part of everyday life, with 79% of respondents saying their daily routine matters to them. However, that routine is evolving. Over two-thirds (68%) have changed their coffee habits in the past year, experimenting with unique flavour combinations and viral drink trends.
This shift is particularly evident among younger consumers. More than half of Gen Z (56%) enjoy unusual drink combinations, and 62% view coffee as a creative outlet. Social media continues to fuel this trend, with 59% recreating viral recipes they’ve seen online.
London is leading the charge, with nearly half of residents (49%) embracing unexpected drink pairings. It’s no surprise, then, that the capital has been chosen as the home of Nespresso’s latest immersive experience.
Nespresso Recipe Remix Takes Over Covent Garden
To celebrate this wave of experimentation, Nespresso has launched The Recipe Remix, an interactive pop-up experience in Covent Garden. Running from 14th to 19th April, the activation invites visitors to break away from routine and discover inventive coffee creations in a hands-on setting.
Guests can explore bold recipes, take part in interactive elements, and even “press to explore” for a chance to win Nespresso prizes. The experience is designed to bring flavour discovery to life while showcasing the versatility of coffee.
From Pickled Coffee Cola to Salted Affogato
Among the standout creations is the Pickled Coffee Cola—a surprising mix of Nespresso Double Espresso Chiaro, diet cola, and pickle brine. Inspired by viral internet trends, the drink reflects the growing appetite for unconventional combinations.
Visitors can also head to the nearby Nespresso boutique to try the Salted Affogato, a luxurious twist on the Italian classic featuring vanilla gelato, espresso, sea salt, and olive oil.
These recipes are built around Nespresso’s Vertuo system, highlighting how easily consumers can recreate experimental drinks at home.
Dua Lipa Joins the Movement
Global pop star Dua Lipa has partnered with Nespresso as part of the campaign, reinforcing the brand’s focus on creativity and innovation.
Speaking about the collaboration, she said she has “grown up with Nespresso,” noting its presence in her daily life—from home to film sets and hotels. Her partnership reflects a shared passion for evolving flavours and pushing boundaries.
Nationwide Coffee Experiences
For those unable to visit London, Nespresso is rolling out a series of rotating recipes across UK boutiques. From mid-April through June, customers can sample new creations during daily tasting sessions.
