Mijenta Tequila recently announced that they are the world’s first B Corp tequila, thanks to their sustainability iniativies since launching Mijenta Blanco Tequila in June 2021 and Mijenta Reposado Tequila in April 2022. Mijenta Tequila was completely carbon neutral in 2021, offsetting nearly 720,000 kilograms of CO2 through its partnership with ClimatePartner. These actions have supported:
- Cloud forest protection and local community support in Chiapas, Mexico.
- Forest protection and community support in Mataven, Columbia.
- Clean wind energy with various social benefits for local communities in Northeast Brazil
Mijenta Tequila is further committed to sustainable practices as all of Mijenta’s packaging elements are eco-friendly, including:
- Labels and note cards are created locally in Guadalajara from agave waste.
- Mijenta Blanco and Reposado boxes are made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and thoughtfully designed to require only a single strip of non-toxic glue and use no coating or varnish.
- The sealing ring in the bottle cap is made from biodegradable material.
