MCM LONDON COMIC CON 2026: RESIDENT EVIL, STAR WARS AND GAMING ICONS TAKE OVER EXCEL LONDON!

Thousands of pop culture fans packed into MCM London Comic Con at ExCeL London this weekend as the UK’s biggest celebration of gaming, anime, sci-fi and fantasy returned with blockbuster panels, celebrity appearances and exclusive reveals.

From behind-the-scenes stories about the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem to nostalgic discussions about Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Metal Gear Solid, the event delivered one of its most star-studded line-ups yet.

Fans also heard from legendary game developer John Romero and bestselling fantasy author Brandon Sanderson as the convention entered its second day.

Resident Evil Requiem Cast Share Emotional Behind-The-Scenes Stories

One of the weekend’s biggest gaming panels featured voice actors Angela Sant’Albano, Emma Rose Creaner and Jane Perry discussing their work on the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem.

Angela Sant’Albano, who voices Grace Ashcroft, spoke emotionally about representing audiences who rarely see themselves portrayed as action heroes in blockbuster franchises.

She explained that her main focus while working on the game was ensuring players connected with Grace as a relatable heroine, adding that she wanted to “do justice” for fans who had never seen themselves represented in these kinds of leading roles.

Sant’Albano also revealed that the game’s intense horror scenes pushed her performance to new levels, joking that despite not being “a screamer in everyday life”, the terrifying moments in the game made screaming feel surprisingly natural.

Doom Creator John Romero Reflects on Gaming History

Gaming icon John Romero drew huge crowds at the Side Quest Stage as he reflected on his career at id Software and the evolution of modern shooters.

Romero praised Half-Life 2 as “one of the greatest shooters ever made”, saying few developers have successfully replicated what made the classic title so groundbreaking.

The legendary developer also opened up about his regrets during the creation of Quake, explaining that the studio should have developed another title alongside its engine work rather than spending nearly a year focused entirely on technology.

Romero additionally surprised attendees by revealing that he personally “made no money from Quake” following his departure from the company.

During the discussion, he criticised modern shooter design for simplifying gameplay mechanics, arguing that many contemporary games have abandoned the deeply hidden secrets and exploration elements that defined iconic 1990s shooters.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Cast Celebrate The Series’ Legacy

The cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars — including Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Nika Futterman, Catherine Taber, Dee Bradley Baker and Ashley Eckstein — reunited to discuss the enduring legacy of the beloved animated series.

Ashley Eckstein shared a memorable encounter with Finn Wolfhard at Disneyland Tokyo, revealing the Stranger Things star enthusiastically spoke about his love for Clone Wars while she was too shy to introduce herself.

Eckstein also reflected on how important the animated series became for the wider Star Wars universe before Disney acquired Lucasfilm.

According to Eckstein, the success of Clone Wars helped pave the way for future Star Wars projects such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

She also revealed she successfully pushed for changes to Ahsoka’s costume design, arguing that the character’s original outfit was impractical for battle scenes.

Brandon Sanderson Teases Mistborn Film Adaptation

Fantasy literature fans were treated to an in-depth spotlight panel with bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

The creator of The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn confirmed that work on the long-awaited Mistborn adaptation is progressing, revealing he is currently writing the screenplay himself.

Sanderson told attendees he plans to submit the first pages of the screenplay within days, further building anticipation among fans eager to see the Cosmere universe adapted for screen.

When discussing music for the adaptation, Sanderson said his dream composer would be legendary film score icon John Williams.

Metal Gear Solid And Hitman Voice Actors Celebrate Their Fans

Voice acting stars David Hayter and Cam Clarke reflected on their experiences working on the Metal Gear Solid series.

Hayter revealed he willingly reduced his own pay during Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty negotiations so the original cast could return for the sequel.

Both actors also praised the cinematic writing style of Hideo Kojima, crediting his storytelling for helping make the franchise so influential.

Meanwhile, Jane Perry and David Bateson entertained crowds with stories from the Hitman franchise.

Bateson recalled how he unexpectedly landed the role of Agent 47 during a corporate voiceover recording session and said the futuristic visuals immediately reminded him of Blade Runner.

Perry also discussed the strong connection female fans have with Diana Burnwood, describing the character as an important role model within gaming culture.
