MCM BIRMINGHAM COMIC CON BRINGS FESTIVE FAMILY FUN TO THE NEC THIS NOVEMBER!

With Christmas fast approaching, MCM Birmingham Comic Con is set to transform the NEC into a festive fandom playground from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th November. Packed with holiday-themed activities, cosplay, games, workshops and entertainment for all ages, this year’s event is shaping up to be the perfect winter day out for families.

Festive Fun for All Ages

MCM Birmingham continues its reputation as the UK’s go-to destination for geek culture — and this year, it’s adding extra holiday sparkle. Families with young children will be pleased to know that kids under four go free, with discounted tickets available for those aged 10 and under. Plus, the dedicated Treehouse family zone makes it easy for parents and little ones to enjoy a safe, creative and festive environment.

🔧 Project Dalek – All Weekend

Doctor Who fans can dive into Project Dalek, a special zone featuring:

  • Hands-on educational sessions on building and operating a working Dalek

  • A Doctor Who cosplay catwalk

  • Themed games and crafts

  • A festive Dalek snowball fight (yes, really)

Perfect for families and Whovians alike, this area delivers science, creativity and fandom in one immersive space.

Festive Pottery Colouring – The Hangout (All Weekend)

Kids can design and decorate their own festive ceramics — no experience needed. Just pick up a brush and let the seasonal creativity flow.

Kids’ Festive Arts and Crafts – The Treehouse (All Weekend)

Expect non-stop creativity as the Treehouse transforms into a winter workshop with:

  • Free craft activities

  • Holiday-themed art stations

  • A fun, party-like atmosphere for families

The Discount Comedy Checkout – The Treehouse (Friday, 1pm)

The award-winning improv group brings an interactive, family-friendly comedy show where kids’ ideas fuel the entire performance. Young audience members can take part in games on stage — and challenge the performers with imaginative story prompts.

Musical Story Hour with Elphaba – The Treehouse (Saturday, 2pm)

Join Laura Scarlett as Elphaba for a magical storytelling session, sing-along moments and a sprinkle of green-themed enchantment. A must-see for Wicked fans.

Kids Cosplay Showcase – The Treehouse (Saturday, 12pm)

Time for mini-heroes and tiny cosplayers to shine. Children under 12 can hop on stage, show off their costume, and strike their best pose.

Festive Morning Mayhem – Live Stage (Saturday 9:45am & Sunday 10:30am)

Kick off your Comic Con morning with high-energy holiday chaos including games, challenges and on-stage shenanigans. Whether you compete or watch, it’s guaranteed to start the day with a laugh.

Chibi Christmas Characters Workshop – Pop Asia (Saturday & Sunday, 2:30pm)

Learn how to draw your own adorable chibi-style festive mascots. This workshop blends manga art with Christmas charm — ideal for young artists and anime fans.
