LOTTO OPENS ‘TWO YOLKS’ LUCKY CAFÉ IN LONDON AS NEARLY 28 MILLION BRITS SAY LUCK IN TWOS IS TOO GOOD TO IGNORE!

The National Lottery’s Lotto is celebrating its new double-chance format with a unique London pop-up café inspired by the UK’s fascination with everyday lucky moments.

From spotting 11:11 on the clock to cracking open a rare double-yolk egg, millions of Britons believe luck can be found in the smallest everyday moments. Now, new research from The National Lottery reveals that nearly 28 million UK adults think luck in pairs is simply too good to ignore.

To mark recent changes to Lotto, where every £2 line now gives players two chances to win, Lotto is launching Two Yolks: Lotto’s Luckiest Café, a limited-time brunch experience in London celebrating the nation’s love affair with lucky signs and second chances.

Why Britons Are Obsessed With Lucky Signs

According to Lotto’s latest research, more than half of UK adults (57%) say feeling lucky is important in their everyday lives, ranking above fame, popularity and even love.

The survey found that:

  • 33% actively look out for signs that good fortune may be on the way
  • 63% say a lucky moment can improve the rest of their day
  • 40% believe good things often come in pairs
  • 65% feel more optimistic when they’re given a second chance

From finding forgotten cash in a jacket pocket to catching a train just as it arrives, many people view these moments as positive signals that something good could be around the corner.

Introducing Two Yolks: Lotto’s Luckiest Café

To celebrate Lotto’s updated game format, the National Lottery is transforming Old Queen Street Café into Two Yolks: Lotto’s Luckiest Café for two days only.

Taking place on 12 and 13 June, the pop-up is designed around the idea that some things simply feel luckier in twos.

Guests can enjoy:

  • A double-yolk fry-up
  • Twin brioche pastries inspired by Bakewell Tart
  • Winner-winner chicken schnitzel
  • Lucky-themed giveaways
  • Instant-win surprises
  • A specially curated “lucky” soundtrack

Even the event timings embrace the theme, with sittings scheduled at 10:10am and 2:22pm, referencing popular angel numbers often associated with good fortune.

Shared Luck Feels Better

The research also suggests that luck is often a social experience.

Three in five respondents (60%) said lucky moments feel better when shared with somebody else, while 37% admitted they’re more likely to see something as a meaningful sign if another person notices it too.

Meanwhile, almost half (48%) believe shared experiences are more likely to lead to positive outcomes.

This idea is reflected in the café itself, where a single £2 ticket admits two guests, with double servings and refreshments included.

Lotto’s New Double-Chance Format

The launch supports Lotto’s recent update, which now gives players two opportunities to win with every £2 line purchased.

According to Richard Dawkins, Managing Director of Digital at Allwyn UK, the inspiration came from the everyday rituals people use to recognise luck.

“People have always had their own ways of recognising a lucky moment, whether that’s seeing certain numbers, spotting two magpies, or something as simple as cracking an egg and finding two yolks.

“With Lotto introducing two chances to win for every £2 line bought, we wanted to create an experience that brings that feeling to life in a playful, memorable way.”

The UK’s Top 10 Everyday Signs of Luck

According to the survey, these are the moments Britons most commonly associate with good fortune:

  1. Finding a banknote in an old pocket or bag (27%)
  2. Arriving just as the train or bus pulls in (23%)
  3. Thinking about someone before they text or call (23%)
  4. Catching a green light just in time (22%)
  5. The rain stopping as soon as you step outside (22%)
  6. Spotting a double rainbow (18%)
  7. Seeing two magpies (16%)
  8. Spotting 11:11 on the clock (14%)
  9. Cracking open a double-yolk egg (12%)
  10. Saying the same thing as someone else at the same time (12%)
