LIDL LAUNCHES ‘MR SPF 30.5’ AHEAD OF PITBULL UK TOUR TO RAISE SKIN CANCER AWARENESS!

As thousands of fans prepare to channel their inner Mr. Worldwide this summer, Lidl has unveiled one of its most playful charity campaigns yet. The supermarket has launched Mr SPF 30.5, a limited-edition version of its popular Cien SPF 30 Sun Spray, encouraging concertgoers to protect their scalps while raising awareness of skin cancer.

Created in partnership with SKCIN, the UK’s leading skin cancer awareness charity, the campaign coincides with the UK leg of Pitbull’s world tour, where bald caps are expected to become one of the hottest accessories of the summer.

Fans can purchase the exclusive bundle from 10am on 6 July for just £3.05, with 100% of proceeds donated to SKCIN to help fund skin cancer education and sun safety initiatives.

Why Lidl Created Mr SPF 30.5

The campaign uses the popularity of Pitbull-inspired bald caps to highlight a serious health issue.

According to SKCIN, skin cancer remains the most common and fastest-rising cancer in the UK, with excessive UV exposure continuing to be a major risk factor. The charity says one in every three cancers diagnosed is skin cancer, while one in four men and one in six women will develop non-melanoma skin cancer linked to UV exposure during their lifetime.

Those with bald or closely shaved heads are particularly vulnerable, as their scalp has less natural protection from harmful UV rays.

By transforming its affordable Cien sunscreen into Mr SPF 30.5, Lidl hopes festivalgoers and concert fans will remember that sun protection should include the scalp—not just the face and body.

What’s Included in the Mr Bald-wide Bundle?

The Mr Bald-wide bundle contains more than just sunscreen.

For £3.05, fans will receive:

  • A limited-edition Mr SPF 30.5 bottle featuring a custom sleeve
  • UV-protective aviator sunglasses
  • A Lidl Plus voucher offering 30% off Cien sun creams and sprays

Only 2,500 bundles are available, making this a limited-edition release expected to sell out quickly.

Free Sun Spray at London Victoria Station

Fans travelling to see Pitbull perform in London won’t necessarily need to buy the bundle.

On 10 July, Lidl will be handing out free bottles of Mr SPF 30.5 at London Victoria Station between 11am and 5pm, while stocks last.

The activation aims to remind concertgoers to apply sunscreen before spending hours outdoors travelling, queuing or attending summer events.

SKCIN Highlights the Importance of Sun Safety

Marie Tudor, CEO of SKCIN, welcomed the campaign as a creative way to reach younger audiences.

She explained that while bald caps may become the must-have accessory for Pitbull fans, the scalp remains one of the areas most exposed to harmful UV rays.

According to SKCIN, increased awareness could help prevent around 90% of skin cancer cases, while early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

The charity hopes the campaign will encourage festival and concertgoers to include scalp protection as part of their summer routine.

Affordable Sun Protection Remains a Priority

The limited-edition bottle is based on Lidl’s Cien SPF 30 Sun Spray, part of the retailer’s affordable sun care range, which is available in stores throughout the summer.

As the UK continues to experience warmer weather and an increasingly busy festival season, health experts continue to recommend:

  • Applying SPF before heading outdoors
  • Reapplying sunscreen regularly
  • Wearing hats where possible
  • Protecting often-forgotten areas like the scalp, ears and neck

Where to Buy Mr SPF 30.5
