HYDRATION HABITS SLIP AS FESTIVE SEASON SETS IN

With colder air and darker evenings fast approaching, many will be turning their attention to cosying up for winter. With 84% of Brits admitting they feel stressed during festive periods, wellness goals might be at risk of slipping.

From dashing around stores, to loading up on festive treats, many of us may forget to hydrate. In fact, Liquid I.V. found that you may lose around 1 litre of water for every hour you spend walking around the Christmas sales. This comes as no surprise, as the majority of Brits (80%) admit they don’t drink enough water.

Research from the #1 powdered hydration brand in the US, Liquid I.V., which stormed the UK hydration scene earlier this year, found that without the constant reminder of summer heat, one in five may (20%) forget to drink more water during colder months and winter.

But Brits are trying to prioritise their wellness this winter with many jumping on the TikTok ‘Winter Arc’ self-improvement trend. The wellbeing trend refers to using the last 90 days of the year to get ahead of the ‘New Year New Me’ crowd and start afresh.

The trend is sweeping the nation, so much so that searches for ‘Winter Arc’ soared by 85% over the last week of September. But how many consider the importance of hydration during months where the temperatures drop?

Liquid I.V., is loved by the world’s top trendsetters – Dance music award winner Becky Hill (who uses Liquid I.V. on the road and in the studio to give her that hydration hit) – is a great gift for the wellness-obsessed.

Maintaining hydration goals is a particularly topical issue for the younger generation, with two thirds (62%) of Gen Z’s and Millennials struggle to feel hydrated in colder months more than summer months.

Not only do busy schedules make us more likely to let our hydration goals slip during the most wonderful time of the year, but lifestyle choices we make to combat colder weather may encourage water loss. Bundling up in layers and cranking up the heating play a role, making it all the more important to have thirst-quenching solutions to hand.

What’s more, those planning a Christmas getaway may also want to keep an eye on water loss. Check out how much water you could lose on your festive flights:

  • London to Edinburgh Christmas Markets (1 hour flight): On this seemingly speedy flight, you can lose around 200ml of water.
  • London to Germany (1.5 hours): On this flight you can lose around 300ml of water, around half a standard water bottle!
  • London to Spain (3 hours): Your Christmas trip to Spain means you can lose about 600ml of water – that’s more than your typical water bottle.
  • London to Greece (4 hours): Your journey for some last-minute winter sun will mean you can potentially lose around 800ml of water.
  • London to New York (8 hours): Your flight to the Big Apple can cost you about 1.6l of water.

For busy Brits struggling to keep on top of their hydration this winter, Liquid I.V.®’s convenient single-serving sticks are perfect for those seeking a food supplement that delivers enhanced hydration during winter activities.
