Get Your Glow On: Skincare Edition

With the summer months upon us, anything on our face in the heat can feel irritating and greasy-feeling. We want that ‘glow from within’ look instead of glowing from sweating in the heat look, and the best part about it is that it’s not hard to achieve!

You can unlock radiant and glowing skin in just a few simple steps, so keep reading below to find out how.

Stay hydrated

You might think that hydration doesn’t apply to you if you have oily skin or that hydration only applies to you if you have dry skin. You keep reaching for your rose face cream to try and combat it, but what if we told you that we all need hydration, no matter our skin type?

What is my skin type?

Whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin types, hydration is something that all skin types need. Chances are, your oily areas exist because of a lack of hydration, as your skin overproduces sebum to compensate for that lack.

Ensuring you know your skin type will help you look for products. It will mean that all areas of your face are hydrated, helping to combat oiliness and ensure that your skin has that healthy, plump glow without any dry patches or dull areas.

Hyaluronic acid is your new best friend

Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient you’ll have seen infused into an increasing number of skincare routines and even makeup products. That’s thanks to its incredible ability to retain up to 1000 times its weight in water.

This really helps to lock in a lot of moisture and will ensure that your skin is hydrated from within and for longer.

3-Step skincare

We mentioned earlier how a skincare routine doesn’t have to be overly complicated to achieve radiant skin, and you certainly don’t need to spend hours doing it, either.

If you’re just starting your skincare journey or want to step back and simplify your routine, we recommend following three steps: cleansing, toning, and moisturising.

Following just these steps is more than enough for you to get the glowy look you want on a daily basis and takes minimal effort.

1. Cleansing

It all starts with a good cleanser: a gentle one in the morning and evening is a great way to start your routine.

Ingredients such as soy protein and cucumber extract work hand in hand to cleanse your skin and eliminate the day’s fatigue and will simultaneously hydrate and soothe your skin without feeling dry or tight. Choose a gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin’s natural oils; avoid foaming cleansers, as they can be very drying.

Following a thorough cleansing ritual, the incorporation of red light therapy can significantly amplify your skincare regimen. Distinguished by its non-invasive attributes and its capacity to deeply penetrate the skin, red light therapy emerges as an exceptional contender for addressing an array of skin-related apprehensions. By instigating heightened cellular activity and bolstering collagen generation, this therapy exhibits efficacy in minimizing the visibility of fine lines, wrinkles, and even residual acne marks. Its potent anti-inflammatory characteristics further render it a valuable asset in the management of conditions such as rosacea and eczema. Notably, the potential of treating psoriasis with red light therapy adds an extra layer of significance to its multifaceted utility. As a harmonious component of a comprehensive skincare approach, red light therapy possesses the potential to elevate the panorama of skin health and luminosity you aspire to attain.
2. Toning

Following up with toner, you want to look out for one with hydrating ingredients such as rose extract that will help seal in that moisture, helping your skin feel clean, smooth, and plump.

Toner will help lock in all the hydrating goodness, and as we’ve said before, hydration is one of the key ways to help you achieve that glowing-from-within look.

3. Moisturising

And last but certainly not least, moisturising. This is just as important as the other two steps, as this is the final layer that will ‘lock’ in any skincare products you may have applied before that.

Even if you feel your moisturiser has fully absorbed into your skin, it still continues to help your skin feel supple and smooth throughout the day. It even acts as a protective barrier against any environmental pollutants we face during the day.

Exfoliate regularly

This 3-step skincare routine is something we recommend you follow on a daily basis. Exfoliation is vital to a healthy skincare routine that we recommend you include in your routine, although there is no need to do so daily.

You may wish to include this weekly, and it is a great way to unclog pores, improve blood circulation and remove dead skin cells that have built up over the week.

Removing that layer of dead skin will also mean that any skincare products you apply will penetrate much deeper and much more effectively into your skin so that you can reap all the wonderful benefits that they offer.

Don’t overdo it

One thing worth noting is to not overdo it with exfoliation, which is why we recommend doing it weekly.

Over-exfoliating can actually inflame or irritate your skin. Instead, look out for a gentle exfoliator with hydrating properties so that it does not strip your skin of moisture and leaves it feeling cleansed and refreshed. And remember to moisturise after exfoliating to combat any residual dryness.

Conclusion

It just goes to show that achieving glowy and radiant skin doesn’t have to be time-consuming or even complicated.

Minimal effort in your routine will absolutely get the job done. Still, it is about remaining consistent and ensuring that you keep up with these good habits every day. With frequent use over time, you’ll soon see the results you were dreaming of.
