Gluten Free Guide To London

If you are traveling to London this summer, or just a local looking for new spots, here are some great places to checkout that cater to a gluten free diet.

Honest Burger

Don’t knock the chains till you try them. With locations scattered throughout the city, Honest Burger is a reliable chain you can enjoy anywhere. They offer smash burgers, deluxe sandwiches, as well as fries and onion rings. All burgers are gluten free with a substituted bun or can be done with a lettuce wrap. The staff is very knowledgeable of gluten free diets and uses different paper to identify food going to someone with an allergy.

Tacos Padres

Situated within the incredibly popular Borough Market, this taco stand is entirely gluten free. While the menu might be a bit small, they have truly brought authentic Mexican tacos to London that even your non gluten-free friends and family are guaranteed to enjoy. Here you can find tacos for sale as individual or bundle deals as well as different small plates and drinks. Their fish and chicken tacos are to die for, and a frozen margarita is the perfect way to cool down during a hot day at the market.

If you are feeling a bit under the weather or the London rain starts getting to you, Pho is the perfect place to stop by. With multiple locations and a 98% gluten free menu, you are sure to find something to enjoy. They specialize in traditional Vietnamese dishes such as pho soup, spring rolls, wok noodles, and fried rice. Pho is the perfect spot for some delicious comfort food and a lot of security in what you are eating, you can even order click and collect or deliveroo if you are not feeling up for going out.

If you are looking for a more upscale restaurant for a special event or nice night, indigo is definitely where you should go. Located in Covent Garden, Indigo is a dedicated gluten free dinner location with lots of fantastic dishes. They use high quality ingredients and fresh caught fish to create a unique set of recipes.Their tasting menu also provides a fantastic dining experience for a very reasonable price that is perfect for a nice date night. Their menu is also dairy free and has plenty of vegan options that make it an easy place to dine with multiple dietary restrictions.

Libby’s Bakery

With two locations in Notting Hill and Primrose Hill, Libby’s can satisfy all of your gluten free pastry dreams. Libby’s has incredible bread that you can buy as a loaf or in slices, but they are extremely well known for their pastries that they bake in house every morning. The cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissant are two of the best pastures you can find, and coming from an entirely gluten free kitchen it is definitely safe to consume. Pro tip, get there half an hour after opening so you can get fresh pastries that are coming out of the oven just in time for your other products. If you show up right as they open they might not be done and ready for you just yet.

London has many options for people trying to adhere to a gluten free diet for any reason. Try to find local places that can accommodate you but don’t forget about the chains or the famous TikTok places, they are popular for a reason! Do however keep in mind that everyone’s sensitivity to gluten and cross contamination is different so make sure to do your own research and decide if eating at a restaurant that is not 100% gluten free is something you are comfortable with.
