FUJIFILM’S ‘LOOK UP’ CAMPAIGN ENCOURAGES BRITONS TO PUT DOWN THEIR PHONES AND REDISCOVER PHOTOGRAPHY!

As smartphones continue to dominate daily life, Fujifilm is urging people to take a break from endless scrolling and reconnect with the world around them through its new ‘Look Up’ campaign.

The latest initiative from the photography giant is designed to encourage people to swap passive screen time for active creativity, positioning photography as a mindful alternative to doomscrolling and digital distraction.

The campaign arrives alongside new research revealing that millions of people across the UK want to spend less time on their devices but struggle to break the habit.

Brits Want to Disconnect From Their Phones

According to research commissioned by Fujifilm, many Britons are becoming increasingly aware of the impact smartphones have on their everyday lives.

Key findings include:

  • 32% say they know they should disconnect from their devices more often but rarely do.
  • 21% regularly crave time away from screens.
  • 37% admit they instinctively pick up their phones without thinking, making it difficult to spend more time offline.
  • 44% say digital distractions have caused them to miss meaningful moments during the past three months.
  • 42% believe family time is the aspect of life most affected by constant digital interruptions.

The findings highlight a growing appetite for more intentional living, with many people seeking healthier relationships with technology.

Photography as an Antidote to Doomscrolling

Rather than focusing solely on camera specifications or image quality, Fujifilm’s Look Up campaign promotes photography as a way to become more present.

The brand argues that using a dedicated camera encourages users to slow down, carefully compose shots and actively engage with their surroundings instead of endlessly consuming content online.

Fujifilm says its popular X Series, X100 Series and GFX System cameras are designed around tactile controls, including physical dials that encourage deliberate decision-making throughout the photographic process. This hands-on approach transforms photography into a more mindful and immersive creative experience.

Fujifilm: Creativity Helps People Reconnect

Theo Georghiades, General Manager of Imaging Solutions at Fujifilm UK, believes the research demonstrates a growing desire for real-world experiences.

He said:

“It’s clear from our research that people in the UK are craving more real-life engagement. With distractions causing them to miss out on important moments and milestones in their lives, it’s the perfect time for us to launch this ‘Look Up’ campaign.”

Georghiades added that Fujifilm believes photography offers “a creative outlet to better connect with the world around them,” helping people transform emotions and everyday experiences into lasting memories.

Designed to Restore Presence

The campaign was developed alongside creative agency NoA &Co, whose CEO, Ørnulf Johnsen, described the initiative as a challenge to “mindless phone behaviour.”

Rather than competing in a market driven by ever-higher pixel counts and technical specifications, Fujifilm is placing greater emphasis on authenticity, nostalgia and human connection.

The campaign encourages users to pause before taking a photograph, frame their surroundings thoughtfully and appreciate the moments unfolding around them.

A Shift Towards Intentional Photography

The launch reflects a wider cultural movement towards slower, more intentional forms of creativity, as younger generations increasingly embrace dedicated cameras alongside analogue-inspired photography.

With compact cameras enjoying renewed popularity, particularly Fujifilm’s sought-after X100 Series, the company hopes Look Up will inspire more people to experience photography not simply as a way of documenting life, but as a way of living it more fully.
