Fortnitemares is back in Fortnite for October 2026, bringing a month-long takeover of spooky collaborations, new weapons, cursed Overrides and terrifying enemies across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload.
October has arrived, which can only mean one thing: Fortnitemares is back in Fortnite.
Epic Games is turning the island into a Halloween playground throughout the month, with a cursed cast of characters and collaborations arriving both in-game and beyond the island, including the Fortnitemares Scare Zone at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
Among the biggest additions is the highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration, which is now live in the Fortnite Item Shop. It kicks off a packed month of horror-themed arrivals, with A Nightmare on Elm Street, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, Beetlejuice, Obsession and more set to join the Halloween celebrations.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Comes to Fortnite!
The long-requested Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration has finally arrived in Fortnite, bringing its animatronic horror into the game.
FNAF Outfits are available in the Item Shop now, with the characters featuring battle-damaged styles that add an extra layer of horror to the crossover.
But the animatronics aren’t just here for cosmetics.
Players can take on Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses, with the ability to possess one and use it to terrorise the island.
It is just the beginning of a month packed with horror collaborations, as more spooky characters and Outfits will be added throughout October.
Freddy Krueger Takes Over Fortnite!
One of the most recognisable names in horror is also joining Fortnitemares, with Freddy Krueger arriving alongside a brand-new location.
Players can drop into Freaky Fields or explore the new Nightmare Neighborhood POI, where Freddy is waiting.
Defeating him rewards players with Freddy’s Nightmare, a new ability that allows players to teleport into range of opponents before unleashing a slash attack.
Fortnitemares also introduces the Bonerattler SMG, allowing players to reveal enemies, while classic Halloween weapons including the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher make their return.
Cursed Overrides Change the Rules!
Fortnitemares isn’t just about new characters and locations.
Cursed Cartridge Overrides are being introduced to shake up gameplay, giving players new abilities that can completely change how they approach a match.
Depending on the Override, players can:
- Become invisible while sprinting
- Deal increased damage when their health is low
- Conceal their entire squad as Halloween props
The new mechanics are designed to bring some unpredictable chaos to Battle Royale, giving squads new ways to surprise their opponents.
Horde Rush Returns!
For players looking for something beyond traditional Battle Royale, Horde Rush is also making its return for Fortnitemares.
The limited-time mode brings players together to battle through waves of enemies, adding another way to experience Fortnite’s Halloween festivities.
Meanwhile, Reload is getting a Halloween update on October 8, when the updated Nitemare Island arrives alongside the Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps.
