As football fever grips the nation ahead of this summer’s international tournament, cat food brand Felix has launched a giant new artwork designed to catch the eye of fans travelling to the United States.
The enormous 1,750-square-metre (18,800-square-foot) mural has been installed directly beneath the flight path departing from Heathrow Airport, offering supporters with a window seat an unexpected glimpse of the brand’s famous feline mascot as they begin their journey overseas.
A Playful Take on Football’s Most Famous Anthem
The artwork features Felix, the mischievous black-and-white cat synonymous with the brand, intensely focused on his own prize — a mouse — alongside the slogan “It’s coming home.”
The campaign cleverly references the iconic Three Lions football anthem made famous by comedians and broadcasters David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, while giving the phrase a distinctly feline twist.
While England fans will be hoping for tournament glory this summer, Felix’s ambitions remain characteristically self-centred. The campaign embraces the independent nature of cats, portraying Felix as supportive of the national team—but ultimately focused on his own goals.
‘It’s Great to Be a Cat’
The mural also incorporates Felix’s long-running brand message, “It’s great to be a cat,” celebrating the playful, cheeky and often unpredictable personalities of Britain’s feline companions. The campaign continues the brand’s tradition of connecting cat behaviour with relatable moments from popular culture.
Felix is one of the UK’s most recognisable cat food brands and is part of the Purina UK portfolio. The mascot has become synonymous with the brand’s playful advertising style and mischievous personality.
Chunkz Joins the Aerial Adventure
To capture the scale of the installation, Felix enlisted a specialist aerial photography team to document the artwork from above.
Joining the helicopter crew was YouTube star and commentator Chunkz, who created exclusive behind-the-scenes content for his followers on TikTok during the aerial shoot.
The mural will remain visible from the air until at least 18 June, giving thousands of travellers departing Heathrow the chance to spot the giant artwork as they head across the Atlantic.
Felix Calls It Its Biggest Campaign Yet
Issy Smithson, speaking on behalf of Felix, described the installation as the brand’s most ambitious campaign to date.
“This is our biggest, boldest advert yet for Felix – both in terms of sheer scale and wit, as we bring Felix’s signature mischief to the heart of the most important cultural conversations of the moment.”
The campaign demonstrates how brands are increasingly using large-scale experiential marketing to tap into major sporting events, creating memorable moments both on the ground and in the air.
