Fulham, London – West London’s dining scene welcomes a new culinary destination with the opening of Brasserie Constance, the latest venture from acclaimed chef Adam Byatt. Nestled on the first floor of Fulham Pier, the riverside brasserie brings a contemporary take on British dining, celebrating seasonal ingredients, comforting flavours, and relaxed sophistication overlooking the Thames.
A Tribute to a Trailblazer
The restaurant is named after Constance Spry, the pioneering florist and chef who transformed British entertaining in the mid-20th century. Her influence is felt throughout the menu, from the Coronation Chicken Pâté en Croûte, inspired by Spry’s iconic creation, to the elegant interiors designed by Lazaro Rosa-Violán, which combine modern luxury with floral-inspired artistic touches.
“Constance Spry’s philosophy of creativity and comfort sits at the heart of everything we do,” says Adam Byatt, Culinary Director. “Like her, we aim to combine artistry with warmth – a place where guests can feel completely at home while enjoying food that celebrates the beauty of the seasons.”
Michelin-Calibre Team Behind the Menu
Brasserie Constance is part of Adam Byatt’s London portfolio, which includes the Michelin-starred Trinity, Bistro Union, and Charlie’s at Brown’s Hotel. He is joined by Head Chef Charlie Crote, whose experience spans The Ritz, Allegra, and The Midland Grand Dining Room. Together, they deliver a menu that balances technical excellence with comforting, seasonal British flavours.
Starters include Potted Duck & Damson, London Smoked Salmon served tableside, and Artichoke Vinaigrette, while sharing dishes like Clay Pot Chicken with Barley & Beer and daily specials such as Pie & Mash or Fish Pie offer hearty, nostalgic flavours. Desserts, including Baked Alaska, Trifle of the Day, and Chocolate Ale Cake with Malted Milk Ice Cream, provide a sweet nod to traditional British classics.
Wine, Cocktails, and Riverside Views
The wine list, curated by Adam Byatt’s son Jack Byatt (Trinity sommelier) and Head Sommelier Alfie Evans-Hutchison, complements the approachable food menu with selections from across the globe. Adjacent Flo Cocktail Bar offers inventive twists on classics, such as the Flo Martini, Golden Mango, and Royal Bramble, paired with small plates including Smoked Haddock Croquettes, Walnut, Pear & Stilton Tarts, and Lamb & Mint Skewers. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping views of the Thames, making it a perfect spot for sunset drinks.
Craftsmanship and Design
Brasserie Constance’s interiors celebrate both Spry’s artistic sensibility and Fulham’s craft heritage. Collaborating with seven ceramicists—six of whom are women—the restaurant features bespoke oyster shell-glazed soup bowls, hand-formed sharing platters, and Spry-inspired vases. Seasonal wildflowers, hand-painted ceilings, floral wall art, and handwoven tapestries enhance the riverside dining experience.
