LA-based rising artist Beatrix has returned with her second release of the year — the blistering, emotionally charged rock track “Dead Dog.” The single digs deep into a decade-old heartbreak, revisiting the moment an ex compared cheating on her to “your dog dying… but then you get a new dog and forget the old one.” It’s a metaphor that stuck with her, and now, she’s finally reclaiming the narrative.
You can stream “Dead Dog” now on all major platforms.
A Raw, Rage-Fuelled Rock Breakthrough
Driven by explosive vocals and a tightly knit creative team of Philip Etherington and Ehren Ebbage, “Dead Dog” captures Beatrix’s transformation of buried pain into artistic power. What began as a slower, softer idea evolved into a defiant rock anthem.
Beatrix shared that pushing the song into a higher register unlocked something visceral:
“When I belt the higher parts it’s so much more powerful and angry… Ehren said, ‘in case I am witnessing a moment in rock history.’ That’s how it felt — like I was getting out all of the rage inside of me.”
A Haunting Prom Night in the “Dead Dog” Video

The official music video — directed by Rogue Bonaventura — reimagines the classic high-school-prom heartbreak trope with a darker edge. Beneath glittering lights and tinsel, Beatrix channels anguish, vengeance, and release, matching the song’s intensity in every expression.
A Momentum-Building Year for Beatrix
“Dead Dog” follows last month’s single “Ghosts of Tennessee”, which arrived alongside the announcement of Beatrix signing to Nice Life Recording Company, home to artists including Lizzo and The Marías.
She also recently performed at School Night LA with a seven-piece band, drawing praise for her dynamic stage presence.
Up next, Beatrix will open for Anson Seabra at The Troubadour on 20 November.
Who Is Beatrix?
Born Arielle Kasnetz, the singer-songwriter began her musical journey in classical training — mastering scales, piano pieces, and operatic technique. But it wasn’t until lockdown, armed with an acoustic guitar, that she started telling her own stories.
Now preparing for her second album — and her debut under Nice Life Recording Company — Beatrix dives into the emotional aftershocks of a formative relationship. Her sound blends indie rock, folk, chamber-pop, and sweeping cinematic arrangements, creating a world that feels intimate yet expansive.
Expect hushed piano confessions, loud full-band eruptions, unexpected melodic twists, and an honesty that cuts straight to the bone.
This is Beatrix fully stepping into her voice — and “Dead Dog” is her sharpest statement yet.
