Bar Douro will be bringing the soul of Portugal to the heart of the City this autumn with Noite de Fado, an exciting new series of live music evenings. Taking place every Saturday throughout October, the series offers an evocative introduction to fado, Portugal’s most iconic musical tradition. Guests can enjoy the music alongside Bar Douro’s acclaimed food and award-winning Portuguese wine list, making for a transportive cultural experience as well as a great night out in London.
Each evening will see Bar Douro’s City location transformed into a Lisbon-style casa de fado, creating an intimate, atmospheric setting where the sounds of fado fill the room, with London-based Portuguese singer and multi-instrumentalist Inês Loubet performing contemporary fado from 19:00 to 21:00. She blends the intimacy of classic fado with jazz harmony, Latin rhythm and her own distinctive energy, taking the series beyond just celebrating the music’s emotional depth, but introducing a treasured tradition to a new audience of Londoners eager to connect with the culture.
Guests will enjoy Bar Douro’s full à la carte menu, inspired by Portugal’s regional culinary heritage. Dishes such as Bacalhau à Brás, a comforting salt cod hash, and Secretos de Porco Preto, made with acorn-fed black pork, will be on offer, paired with the UK’s largest selection of Portuguese wines. With a menu designed for sharing, it encourages guest to immerse fully into the customs of the culture, connecting over food, wine, and music.
Founded by Max Graham, whose family has produced wine in the Douro Valley for over two centuries, Bar Douro has become a leading destination for Portuguese cuisine in London. Since opening its first restaurant in London Bridge in 2016, and later its City outpost, it has championed indigenous grape varieties, traditional recipes and cultural storytelling. Bar Douro has also been recognised for having London’s best Iberian wine list, praised for its depth and educational approach. Bar Douro has invited Inês Loubet to perform at Noite de Fado, as one of London’s most exciting Portuguese artists, whose performances have included the BBC Proms and a sold-out show at The Jazz Café.
