After Season 2’s Viewership Bonanza, Will Ted Get a Season 3?

A TV show released 12 years after the first film debuted a teddy bear, which has come to life to go all-in on indulgences and swearing, wasn’t ever guaranteed to be successful. It just so happens that, after two seasons, the Ted show is a bona fide hit. It’s a pricey show, but the conversation has already begun for a Season 3.

Fans in All Corners of Entertainment

The level of success the Ted show is enjoying is a bit of a surprise. However, given how well the character has been received across other corners of entertainment, it perhaps shouldn’t have been such a shock. The 2012 comedy smashed it at the box office despite its high age rating, collecting over $556 million worldwide.

Ted 2, released three years later, didn’t do as well with its $217 million haul, but a core fan base persisted. Ted’s next step was into the world of iGaming. Now, you can find a casino online that hosts a whole series of Ted slots. There were two films, there has been two seasons of the show so far, but there are already four slots.

It began with Ted in 2017, bringing the character to the reels with six bonus features – including Beer Shuffle, Psychedelic Super spin, and the TV Remote Streak. From there, the series grew to the Ted Big Money Scratchcard, Ted Pub Fruit, and Ted Jackpot King, with each new entry showing the developers trying to meet demand.

Even with a consistent series of releases at online casinos, the Ted show came a long time after the last cinematic release. Plus, it came at a time when all other streaming platforms are gobbling up and throwing out TV shows based on well-known IPs. Given the costs involved, and despite the continued interest in Ted, Peacock took a risk.

Plenty of Viewers to Justify Peacock’s Leap of Faith

In 2024, when the foul-mouthed, drinking and smoking bear made his TV debut, he managed to spur on some incredibly strong viewership numbers in many regions. In the UK, Ted came to the Brits by way of Sky. In the first 28 days, the show was viewed 1.36 million times. That’s a huge success through the premium TV service.

Now, Nielsen data has revealed the success of Ted Season 2 with adults up to the age of 34, showing an even greater run than its predecessor. The 5 March 2026-premiered show was viewed for a total of 1.2 billion minutes, ranking as the top original comedy across every streaming platform.

Those minutes amount to around 40 million whole individual episodes being watched. So, it’s not a surprise that the show’s creators were asked if more is on the way. Seth MacFarlane, citing Peacock’s “big Scrooge McDuck money”, says that everyone involved in the show, from creatives to cast, are keen to go again.

However, the show is extremely expensive to make, with around four hours of final cuts mostly needing the CGI bear to be present, animated, and probably cracking jokes. So, those involved have mused a potential straight-to-streaming movie to round out this chapter of Ted, which would be shorter and cheaper to produce.

Ted continues to draw in the crowds across entertainment, but we might be a couple of years out from a third run of the TV show’s time period. Given its success, it seems inevitable that Peacock will greenlight some kind of renewal.
