“If I were the Prime Minister today I would BAN Business Degrees” – Simon Squibb is on a mission to let everyone know about the risks of University Education in new Podcast VOICES OF INFLUENCE, launching today.
The famously outspoken Entrepreneur went into battle against all things University on the new Podcast, calling out the entire system as a money-making business, even a likening them to banks.
“I think that universities are partly an extension of the baking system. How can we get people into debt from a young age? Sell them something they don’t understand.”
Squibb, who can be heard ripping into ‘outdated syllabuses’ and ’30 year old marketing techniques, no longer of relevance today’ is the first in a gargantuan line up of names set to speak their minds on the new Podcast, hosted by Ben Jeffries and Casper Lee of Global Marketing Influencer Agency, INFLUENCER.
“When I was homeless on the streets, I was not thinking about how glad I was to learn about Biology, the human body, or Chemistry. What I was thinking, was how little I knew about money and how to look after myself. We need to do more to educate our children on life skills and business, what a mortgage is, how credit cards work.”
The Digital Creator & Founder of HelpBnk, Squibb talks at length about ways in which easy changes can be made to update the system and start educating our younger population on money matters, ever sceptical about the reasons why this hasn’t happened, he says
“I spoke to someone the other day and they had done four years in marketing – I asked them ‘what are the five ways you make money on TikTok?’ They had no idea. ‘How does the algorithm work?’ They don’t know! They can tell you anything you need to know about why Pets.com failed in the .com bust, who cares about that now?”
Pod host Ben replied: “I went to University but I dropped out after only a year. Often in the UK School system you are encouraged to go to University, and while it is a system that can work for certain professions (such as medicine) – but for a lot of other degrees there is so much more experience that you can gain from real world practices and so I always encourage people to not just think about University when you think about what you want to do after school.”
In 2015, and at just 18 years old, Jeffries made a life-defining decision: he dropped out of university to build Influencer, one of the world’s largest and most successful influencer marketing agencies alongside his co-founder Caspar Lee.
Now the pair are back hosting an array of exciting Podcast names throughout Summer 2025 – For updates on all things VOICE OF INFLUENCE head to Apple and Spotify Podcasts.
