Showalker UK has announced that the powerful Hong Kong crime drama Valley of the Shadow of Death (不赦之罪) will hit UK cinemas on 14th November 2025 — a gripping exploration of faith, revenge, and redemption that’s already making waves on the international film circuit.
Starring veteran actor Anthony Wong (Infernal Affairs, Still Human) as Pastor Leung, the story follows a man tormented by grief after his daughter’s brutal assault and suicide. Years later, the young perpetrator Chi Lok (played by rising star George Au) is released from prison and unexpectedly joins Leung’s church. As the two men form a fragile bond, Leung faces a profound test of faith: can forgiveness overcome vengeance, or will the past destroy them both?
The film premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024, earning praise for its raw emotional depth and moral complexity. Written and co-directed by Jeffrey Lam Sen and Antonio Tam, both under 30, the film marks an important moment for Hong Kong’s new wave of filmmakers.
