THE NORTH FACE CELEBRATES GLOBAL CLIMBING DAY

The North Face celebrates Global Climbing Day by opening up free events at climbing gyms and crags to the public. Five locations across Europe will celebrate on the 19th August with champion climbers new and old, encouraging people to push boundaries and foster a community bound by empathy and strengthened by understanding.

The North Face has been part of the climbing community since the foundation in 1966. From the Yosemite’s Half Dome logo to Margo Hayes becoming the first woman to send 9a+, and beyond, climbing is at the heart of exploration.

For the 7th consecutive year, the brand continues its partnerships with local gyms by organising Climbing Festivals across Europe, helping lower barriers of entry to climbing and ensure access to gym climbing for everyone.

This extends beyond Global Climbing Day, with each event ensuring a legacy for those with fewer opportunities to access climbing the chance to discover the sport. Partnerships with organisations across Europe will provide a range of courses and opportunities to climb.

In Europe, climbing walls in six key cities will be participating in a celebration of inclusivity and connection through the sport of climbing over the summer. The events, taking place in London, Berlin, Chamonix, Paris, Cortina and Milan will offer everyone the unique opportunity to meet The North Face athletes, connect with their local climbing community, and enjoy workshops and speaker series.

On Saturday 19th August, The North Face opens up London climbing wall Yonder for the day from 10am to 9pm, with special guests James Pearson, Caroline Ciavaldini and Toby Roberts.

Learn new skills from beginner to advance levels with climbing workshops and talks from The North Face athletes or spend time with instructors on hand to teach vital climbing skills and end the day with a DJ set from DJ Manhoor.

Other Global Climbing Day events are also taking place across Europe. Find out more here
