StockX Data for World Anticounterfeiting Day

As part of World Anticounterfeiting Day, StockX have release a new report that reveals never-before-shared insights on the most common fake products – including sneakers, handbags, and collectibles – caught by StockX authenticators around the world.

Now more than ever, consumers are forced to navigate an ecosystem rife with bad actors, making it that much more important for brands to fight counterfeiters on the frontlines. This new report offers a snapshot of what is happening in the broader market as footwear, apparel, and collectibles are all key targets for counterfeiters. The report provides a range of other anticounterfeiting and authentication insights, including quality control metrics like the top reasons products are rejected during StockX’s authentication process. (Surprise: The No. 1 reason for rejection is manufacturing defects.)

The key highlights include: 

Just over 35M products have gone through StockX’s authentication process, and the company’s investment in authentication has increased every year since 2016.

StockX has 11 authentication centers and launched 5 new ACs in the last two years

The global team includes 300+ authenticators plus nearly 200 additional team members that directly support this critical function

Quality Control: Authentication is about more than just stopping fakes. Over the last 12 months, the presence of manufacturing defects was the top reason products were rejected during StockX’s authentication process.

In the last 12 months alone, StockX protected customers by rejecting more than 300,000 products worth more than $100M in value.

StockX Authentication: By the Numbers

Authenticators have stopped more than $60M worth of fake sneakers from trading on the platform (Since 2016)
