Introducing Seiko’s most advanced next-generation chronograph to date and a first for the Prospex collection, the Seiko Prospex GPS Solar Chronograph. Building upon Seiko’s legacy of world-firsts in chronograph innovation, the GPS Solar Speedtimer uses the latest developments in watchmaking to advance the Speedtimer legacy.
Drawing inspiration from the legendary 1972 ‘Panda’ chronograph, this modern iteration retains the original’s distinctive style, featuring the iconic yellow-coloured accents, symbolising the Seiko history of timekeeping excellence – particularly in the Athletics area, having been the official timekeeper for major more than 190 World Athletics events since 1985. To celebrate Seiko‘s 100th anniversary, a limited edition timepiece in black will also be available with gold-coloured accents to mark this milestone.
The timepieces boast a dual-time display, high-speed time zone adjustment, and time transfer function. The dial is encircled by a chronograph scale on the inner bezel, while the UTC time zone markers on the side enhance the stopwatch’s legibility. The in-house 5X83 Solar GPS calibre powers these chronographs, allowing them to measure elapsed time down to 1/20th of a second with an impressive accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Offering a 6-month power reserve, it recharges via any light source—natural or artificial—delivering convenience and precision in one sleek package.
The Prospex GPS Solar Chronograph Speedtimer will be available from September 11th for pre-order at Seikoboutique.co.uk, £1960-£2140.
