It is time again! The World Cup 2022 is just around the corner. All teams that made it to get into the race are now preparing, working on their methods and strategies and will do their very best to at least come as close to the title as possible. Besides the good old evergreens Brazil, Germany and others, England has made it into the game and now the entire island is wondering how their team will do in the upcoming weeks.

It has been now more than four years since the English lost the saddening semi-final in Moscow and since then the team’s coach Gareth Southgate has done nothing else than preparing his team to win the title. This is certainly something millions of people in England wish for as it would finally put an end to the pain that has been going on for 56 years now.

The female counterpart of the men’s league has been more successful in the past bringinging back the pride which may be so desperately needed in England after Brexit and so many other disasters of the last few years. This summer the English women finally made it to beat Germany in the final round of the Euro Cup 2022 causing tears in the eyes of many sitting in the pubs. Still the World Cup is something else.

Since the race has started, fans from all over the world started setting their bets and evaluating their chances. Like in the other participating nations, gambling markets in the UK have been opening up for bets and surprisingly many are on the side of the home team England. Besides the betting industry, fashion and other industries have launched huge campaigns supporting their national team.s Is England able to win the title this year? And if yes, why?

A doable group

The first reason why Enlgand has good chances to win the World Cup 2022 is the group they have to battle in order to get into the next round.

The first step of the World Cup after teams have qualified for the tournament, is the group phase. In this phase four teams which are chosen randomly are put together in one group which means they have to play against each other and only two teams can proceed. This phase and the opponents one has to phase in order to get through is crucial to winning the title.

In this year’s tournament, England who is in Group B will be playing against the national teams of the USA, Iran and their fellow countrymen Wales. Each of these teams will represent different challenges to the English Team. Iran is a team on a high technical level that England has never ever played against. During the World Cup in South Africa England competed against the USA the last time. Wales is also not to be underestimated, the British team plays a similar type of football which can make things a bit difficult.

After all, the English national team does not have to compete with any of the top favorites of this year’s tournament in Qatar and certainly is the favorite of its own group. Many see good chances for them to get well out of the group phase and get closer to winning the title.

Great condition of the team

Many have expressed excitement about the English team’s condition and position this year. Players like the American football star Landon Donovan have been impressed by the job the English coach has done in the last few years.

In an interview he mentioned that he found the English team to be not in the same place they used to be. He stated that he sees the English players to have less pressure to not make mistakes on their shoulders like one could see in the World Cup of 2010. Additionally, he said that the team looks way more comfortable and confident, they are strong and not afraid of taking risks and they do not worry too much about the pressure coming from the public and the media.

Not only Donovan has this opinion. The English team has certainly developed strongly during the last few years. Gareth Southgate has certainly done a good job and made it to bring the team to a new level. This gives a good set of conditions for the English to get close to winning this year’s title in Qatar.

Better timing

Another good point is the timing of this year’s tournament. Usually the World Cup always happens in a time when players have already been quite exhausted from the previous local tournaments which made it hard for them to give their best in the World Cup which obviously needs the most of the attention and energy.

This year though the Premier League-heavy team will be in top physical form and match sharpness as opposed to joining it towards the conclusion of a hectic season, as it used to be, because the tournament takes place in the middle of the domestic league season.

This means the players are at their best condition at the moment and we can expect the highest of performance from them. The English team led by Southgate in the prime of their season is in a good situation, providing high chances of winning.

Strongest pool of players

Many say that the pool of players England currently has is the strongest since a long time. A lot of fans and experts have expressed the opinion of England having the generation’s strongest group of players for England. Gareth Southgate may have a difficult time making decisions since the roster includes so many excellent players who share places. Even the boss of the American team has raised concerns over the power of Southgate’s team.

Of course, their captain of the team, Harry Kane, who wears the number nine, is the star of the team. Many have compared him to Wayne Rooney, a legend in English football. He won the World Cup’s Golden Boot in Russia and scored a crucial goal against Denmark the previous year to advance them to the Euro 2020 final. Harry Kane must be healthy and on point if England is to have any hope of winning this competition. Alongside him, offensive players with speed and inventiveness like Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka will probably be needed once more.
