Patrice Evra reminds fans not to forget the positive impact Ole had on Man United

Patrice Evra urged fans to remember the positive impact that Ole Gunnar Solskjær had on Man Utd during a Q&A with fans and Twitch viewers at Amazon’s Black Friday Liveat Victoria House, London (Thurs 25th – Sun 28th November).

The Manchester United legend expressed support for his old teammate whilst previewing upcoming Premier League football live on Prime Video next week, commenting,“People forget Ole made us believe in Man Utd again, it wasn’t easy after José and Louis Van Gaal. It’s not fair the way they treated Ole.”

He continued: “Not everyone is Sir Alex Ferguson. He’s the heart of the club, he built a legacy for 26 years. When he left and Moyes came it was mission impossible, you need to have a history and win trophies. For the fans, you need to have the right balance. When I retired, I had won 5 Premier League titles. It’s a massive achievement, but that’s what Ferguson did.”

When asked for any advice for the players ahead of the Arsenal vs Man Utd fixture this week (8.15pm, Thurs 2nd Dec, Amazon Prime Video), he said “We need to go tough on them”, before commenting that he’ll be taking on pundit duties with Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry on Thursday. “If they (Arsenal) lose, you should watch Amazon Prime Video!”

During the discussion, hosted by Michael ‘Timbsy’ Timbs, he also expressed his surprise at Rafael Benitez joining Everton and predicted a frosty reception at this week’s Merseyside derby (8.15pm, Weds 1st Dec, Amazon Prime Video). “Rafa is a true tactician, but I’m really surprised about him joining Everton. I don’t know what reception he’ll get, playing against his old club is brave. It’s going to be electric.”

Continuing with the topic of players and managers leaving clubs to go to their rivals, Evra referenced an exchange he had with Ronaldo when there was talk of him moving to Manchester City. “I sent him a voice note. I won’t say what it was in the voice note but it was not a nice voice note. I was like – you can’t go to City, that’s a fact.”

The livestreamed Q&A was part of Amazon’s Black Friday Live, four days of star-studded events, live streams, and giveaways (25th – 28th November, Victoria House, WC1B 4DA).
