NICOLAS CAGE SWINGS INTO PRIME VIDEO’S SPIDER-NOIR! | SPIDER-MAN NOIR TRAILER DROPS AS PRIME VIDEO DARK MARVEL SERIES PREMIERES IN MAY 2026!

Nicolas Cage is stepping into the shadows. Prime Video has officially unveiled the teaser trailer and global premiere date for Spider-Noir — a bold new live-action Marvel adaptation starring Cage in his first-ever leading television role.

The hotly anticipated series will launch worldwide on 27 May 2026, dropping as a binge release across more than 240 countries and territories on Prime Video. Produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, Spider-Noir promises a stylised, noir-infused reinvention of the Spider-Man universe.

A Spider-Man Story Like You’ve Never Seen Before!

Based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, the series follows Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage) — a weathered, down-on-his-luck private investigator navigating the dangerous streets of 1930s New York. After a deeply personal tragedy forces him to confront his past, Reilly must reckon with his former identity as the city’s one and only masked superhero.

In a unique twist, Spider-Noir will be available to stream in two distinct formats:

  • “Authentic Black & White” — a classic noir aesthetic

  • “True-Hue Full Colour” — a vibrant reimagining

Viewers can quite literally choose their own viewing experience, leaning into either traditional film noir moodiness or a modern colour palette.

The series expands the growing Marvel television universe and follows a wave of darker, more mature comic adaptations.

Nicolas Cage Leads an All-Star Cast!

Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage (Adaptation, Pig) headlines the ensemble in what marks his first leading role in a television series — a major moment for the Hollywood icon, who previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

He’s joined by an impressive supporting cast including:

  • Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl)

  • Li Jun Li (Babylon)

  • Karen Rodriguez (Acapulco)

  • Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses)

  • Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire)

  • Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter)

Guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Amanda Schull and more.

The calibre of talent signals that Spider-Noir isn’t just another superhero spin-off — it’s shaping up to be prestige television with cinematic weight.

Behind the Scenes: The Creative Team

The series is directed by Emmy Award-winner Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve), who helms and executive produces the first two episodes.

Co-showrunners Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher) developed the project alongside the Academy Award®-winning creative team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VersePhil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal.

Lord and Miller executive produce under their Lord Miller banner, with Amy Pascal producing via Pascal Pictures. Nicolas Cage also serves as an executive producer.

With that pedigree, expectations are high that Spider-Noir could redefine how Marvel stories translate to television.

A Gritty Marvel Story Inspired by the Comics

Spider-Noir is based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, which reimagines the classic web-slinger within a shadowy, Depression-era setting. The live-action series follows Ben Reilly as he grapples with guilt, loss and redemption — all against a backdrop of crime, corruption and smoky jazz clubs.

The project boasts serious creative pedigree. Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve) directs and executive produces the first two episodes. Co-showrunners Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher) developed the series alongside the Oscar-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse — Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal.

With Lord and Miller executive producing under their Lord Miller banner, and Pascal via Pascal Pictures, expectations are high that Spider-Noir will deliver the same innovation and storytelling flair that made Into the Spider-Verse a cultural phenomenon.

Why Spider-Noir Could Be Prime Video’s Dark Horse Hit

As superhero fatigue continues to be debated, audiences are increasingly gravitating towards genre-bending adaptations with distinctive tone and aesthetic. The success of projects like The Batman and prestige comic adaptations on streaming platforms suggests that darker, stylised storytelling is resonating.

By embracing classic noir influences, historical setting, and dual-format streaming options, Spider-Noir feels designed to stand apart from the traditional Marvel template.

And with Nicolas Cage at the centre — an actor known for fearless, unconventional performances — the series may well become one of 2026’s most talked-about streaming debuts.

Spider-Noir premieres globally on 27 May 2026 on Prime Video.
