Fans of the iconic fighting game franchise won’t have to wait much longer to watch Mortal Kombat II from the comfort of home, with Warner Bros. confirming that the blockbuster sequel will begin streaming globally on HBO Max from Friday, July 24. The film will also receive a special American Sign Language (ASL) version on the same day, making the action epic more accessible to a wider audience.
Following its successful theatrical release, Mortal Kombat II continues the rebooted franchise with higher stakes, bigger battles and the long-awaited Mortal Kombat tournament that fans have been waiting to see on the big screen.
Johnny Cage Joins the Fight
One of the sequel’s biggest draws is the arrival of fan-favourite fighter Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban, who joins Earthrealm’s champions in a brutal showdown against Shao Kahn.

Launching alongside the standard release is an exclusive American Sign Language (ASL) edition of the film.
The ASL performance is delivered by Justin Perez and directed by Rosa Lee Timm, incorporating Visual Vernacular—a highly expressive storytelling style that blends ASL, mime, facial expressions and body movement to recreate the film’s fast-paced action. Warner Bros. says the accessibility-focused version will stream exclusively on HBO Max from launch day.
