The MOBO Awards 2026 have officially unveiled their nominees, marking a major milestone as the ceremony prepares to land in Manchester for the first time in its 30-year history. Widely recognised as Europe’s most influential celebration of Black music and culture, the awards honour outstanding releases and artists from 1 September 2024 to 1 October 2025.

Manchester Set to Host a Landmark MOBO Ceremony
The move to Manchester continues MOBO’s long-standing mission of spotlighting cities across the UK. Since 2009, the awards have travelled to Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow, Coventry, Sheffield, Newcastle and beyond—championing local talent and cultural impact nationwide.
Manchester’s rich musical legacy makes it a fitting host city, and audiences can expect an electrifying night of live performances, tributes and cultural moments, with hosts, performers and special honourees to be announced in the coming months.
Little Simz, Olivia Dean, kwn and Jim Legxacy Lead 2026 Nominations
This year’s nominations showcase the strength and diversity of Black British music, with Little Simz, Olivia Dean, kwn and Jim Legxacy leading the pack on four nominations each.
Three-time MOBO winner Little Simz continues her acclaimed run, earning nods for:

Rising R&B star kwn earns recognition across Best Newcomer, Best Female Act, Best R&B/Soul Act and Song of the Year for “Do What I Say.”
Meanwhile, Jim Legxacy continues his rapid ascent with nominations for Best Male Act, Best Newcomer, Song of the Year for “3X” with Dave, and Video of the Year for “Father.”
Central Cee, FLO, PinkPantheress and Skepta Secure Three Nods Each
Among the most nominated artists of the year, Central Cee earns three nominations, including Album of the Year for Can’t Rush Greatness, reaffirming his status as one of the most decorated rappers in MOBO history.
FLO and PinkPantheress continue to dominate across R&B and electronic spaces, while Skepta is recognised for his work across music and visuals, including Song of the Year for “Victory Lap” with Fred again.. and PlaqueBoyMax.
Championing the Next Generation: Best Newcomer Spotlight
The Best Newcomer category once again highlights MOBO’s role as a predictor of future stars. This year’s shortlist includes EsDeeKid, Skye Newman, DC3, Sekou, Nia Smith, and underground London names Finessekid, YT and Jim Legxacy—reflecting the genre-blending energy shaping the UK’s emerging scene.
Film, TV and Media Talent Recognised
Beyond music, MOBO continues to celebrate excellence across film, television and media. Netflix’s acclaimed series Adolescence receives multiple nominations, recognising performances from Ashley Walters and Stephen Graham, alongside nods for Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) and Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners).
The Best Media Personality category shines a spotlight on influential voices shaping culture year-round, including DJ AG, TikTok favourite Bemi Orojuogun (Bus Aunty), stylist Melissa Holdbrook-Akposoe, and popular podcast platforms In My Opinion and Winners Talking.
Global Sounds Take Centre Stage
International categories reflect the continued global rise of Black music, with Ayra Starr, Tyla and Moliy earning nominations across Best African Music Act and Best International Act. Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel is also recognised following his recent MOBO Impact Award.
MOBO Fringe Festival Returns Ahead of the Awards
In the lead-up to the ceremony, MOBO will collaborate with Manchester City Council to deliver the MOBO Fringe Festival—a free, week-long celebration of music, culture and creativity. The programme will feature live performances, industry panels, workshops and talent showcases, building on the success of MOBO Fringe 2025 in Newcastle, which generated an estimated £1 million+ in economic and social impact.
