LEGENDARY RED BULL SOAPBOX RACE RETURNS TO LONDON

The legendary Red Bull Soapbox Race returned to the UK for the first time since 2022, as thousands of spectators watched 59 teams hurtle down London’s iconic Alexandra Palace course, with The Hurry Houdinis from London crowned 2024 winners.

Red Bull Soapbox Race spectators were entertained throughout the afternoon by the event’s signature weird and wonderful vehicle designs. Highlights included The Belly of the Whale’s Harry Potter-inspired ‘Knight Bus,’ Fast and Furniture’s sideways Simpson’s sofa and No Kane, No Gain’s ‘Harry Crane’ vehicle.

With over 250 teams applying, this year’s entrants came from all over the UK with some traveling from as far afield as Northern Ireland, Glasgow and Newcastle.

This year’s judging panel was made up of Red Bull athlete and freestyle skier, Kirsty Muir; former The Traitors contestant and BMX star, Matt Harris; professional mountain bike rider, Jono Jones and fitness and lifestyle creator Esme Gummer.

Participants were judged on creativity, speed and showmanship, with each team taking on four notable features of the Red Bull Soapbox Race track including; The AA Water Jump, The Wedge, The Bone Rattler and The Kicker, as well as a special foam cannon feature from event partner, Unibond No More Nails.

After lifting the trophy, The Hurry Houdinis said: “We can’t believe we have actually won. When we arrived and saw all the other carts, we thought we would have been lucky to get in the top 1 or 2. The quality of the other carts were so high. It has been a mental couple of days. The wheel hubs arrived yesterday so it was really down to the wire if we could go or not. It felt electric to win. A lifetime of preparation has gone into this moment now. We will be back to defend the title with a few tricks up our sleeves to make it bigger and better for the next race.”

For the first time, the Red Bull Soapbox Race schedule included a Creators Race, broadcast live on Red Bull’s YouTube Channel,  with four teams led by  Bambino Becky  and PieFace, The Fellas (Calfreezy and Burnt Chip), ItalianBach & ArthurTV, and Kon. The teams went head-to-head during the half-time show, with ItalianBach & Arthur TV becoming the fastest creators down the iconic track at Ally Pally.

Red Bull has held over 100 Soapbox races around the world since the original in Brussels in 2000, from Australia to the USA and Italy.
