The highly anticipated DC Studios series Lanterns has officially unveiled a brand-new teaser, giving fans another glimpse into the upcoming live-action adaptation inspired by DC’s iconic Green Lantern mythology.
Set to premiere on August 17 via HBO Max, the series stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre and Kelly Macdonald, while the newly released teaser also offers a first look at acclaimed actress Laura Linney in the upcoming drama.
What Is Lanterns About?
Inspired by the legendary Green Lantern comics from DC Studios, Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, alongside Lantern veteran Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler.
The official synopsis describes the pair as “two intergalactic cops” who become entangled in a dark murder mystery rooted deep in the American heartland.
The series is expected to blend superhero storytelling with grounded detective drama, offering a fresh tone for the evolving DC Universe being overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The pilot episode is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, all of whom also serve as co-creators on the project.
